I knew that Hank Azaria did a few Simpson voices (later found out he did 9). What I didn't know was how big a Sprinsteen fan he was. And it's to the point of using his talented voice to mimic Bruce. And he's damn good! This was the first time my wife and I went to the Patchogue Theater. Think converted movie theater. It's surrounded by a nice selection of unique restaurants (we went to Whiskey Neat - highly recommend). Hank did a mix of Bruce standards Born to Run, Thunder Road, Badlands etc... set list covered a lot. In between songs he talked to the audience about him growing up, how he became a Bruce fan and used his voice to form a band to do Bruce covers. Told us he had a bad back and still did the concert! The show we saw is part of a national tour. He also met the fans afterwards. The picture i included was in passing. He was also selling merchandise, like the poster included, t-shirts, etc. All the proceeds donated to charity. If Hank gets to your neck of the woods and you want a fun nite with Bruce, by all means get to a show, you won't be dissapointed! A secondary benefit of this particular show will be that I'll come back to Patchogue to check out the rest of the town (and a few more of their...
Read moreNice old venue to enjoy a concert. Great sound. Unfortunately the security and box staff are obnoxious and rude. Went to see a Foghat concert . Apparently some kind of mixup on my passes and gift item I was told I could bring in. Instead of politely sayings hold on step aside, I was told stand over there call the person you need to. Whats his name go ahead and call him,in a tone that said your full of it. Again asked whats his name. I told you already guys, calm down I told them.Nice way to treat someone who just spent over 300.00 dollars in tickets and 60 bucks in overpriced preorder drinks. Then after the show the couple we attended the concert with asked if they could have the drumstick that fell under the stage. Another security guard or worker let out a nasty NO!! Our guests from out of town were taken back by such a rude tone. Whats the deal here? Is it because we are in Patchogue? And they have to act tough, or is it something else? Needless to say the experience has left me saying..sorry guys. I'll not be back anytime soon. Suffolk theater and the Paramount much better...
Read moreI attended the Girls Gone Bible event tonight and it was a truly wonderful spiritual experience. Every attendee was a respectful churchgoing citizen, making the gathering warm and welcoming. Sadly, my experience was marred by two staff members who acted with unnecessary rudeness. One gentleman with a long grey mustache very harshly told me to move my foot, which was only a few inches into the aisle, and spoke to me in an upset and demanding tone. He later yelled at another woman attending the event who was quietly filming with her phone, light on, instead of offering a polite reminder about event policies. At the end of the evening, another staff member abruptly announced, âWe are closingâkeep it moving,â speaking with unnecessary sharpness to a peaceful group. These actions felt out of place and disrespectful, especially given the character of the attendees. As a local businessperson, I intend to bring this incident to the attention of the event organizers and report it to the mayor, so that future events can better reflect the dignity and compassion we expect in...
