American Theatre Canton Ny — Local services in Town of Canton

Recently took our family to see Star Wars and Ferdinand. I spent 20 minutes waiting on a concession worker to appear to get a refill on my popcorn, got frustrated and went back inside the movie. My husband tried to get a refill on the popcorn later during the movie and spent 15 minutes searching for a concession worker. My father-in-law who was watching Ferdinand in the other theater went through the same situation on his popcorn, he and another man had to go through the other theaters to find someone who worked there.

Not only is this theater outdated (seriously what theater doesn’t have cup holders?), has broken chairs, and smells musty, but when I sent an email (because the webpage only has the Movieline and not a number to talk to someone) I have had no response. I will drive to Watertown...

Don't let a few bad reviews fool you. Yes, the place is old (I feel it has a kind of vintage feel to it, personally), but they keep things pretty well kept for such a small theater. This is where I go to watch just about everything, honestly. The ticket prices are fair and the concession prices are as expected. Sure, you can spend the extra money to travel out to Watertown or ever Potsdam, both of which have great theaters... but it's mostly unnecessary unless you intend to watch something in 3D. Canton's movie theater isn't perfect, but it's pretty great for around here. Even though I've been to plenty of bigger theaters (including a massive one not too far outside of Portland, Oregon here I watched "Ant Man") I think this one holds its own. We're actually going to re-watch "Infinity War"...

Wanted to do a double feature as I have done with other theaters the company owns and the ticket person refused to let me buy both of my tickets when I arrived and told me I would need to come back down and buy my second ticket after watching the first movie. “It’s just easier that way so if you change your mind we don’t have to refund you the second ticket.” Horrible customer service from this ticket seller. Will not come to watch movies at this theater again. Will stick to the Massena, Potsdam, and Drive-In the company owns where the tickets sellers are FAR friendlier and will sell me both of my tickets at once if I want to come watch two movies at their...
