Lake Plaza Shopping Center — Local services in Town of Carmel

One of Mahopac's shopping centers, this one is on the East end of US Route 6. The center dates back to the mid-1970s but has been recently remodeled. One of the anchors is an Ocean State Job lot, which is a pretty nice discount store where formerly there was a Kmart, and the old Caldor's years before. There is also a Dollar Tree next to the Job Lot. The other anchor is a Stop & Shop (there's another Stop & Shop Westward on US 6 right on the Mahopac-Balewin Place boarder). Rebuilding Kmart is gone, there's a new stop and shop, which is good. What was Paulo's Pizza is something else, they say it is same owners but something has changed. A couple big empty stores that I hope they can fill with something other than a nail salon or CVS. Shop Putnam, right? Hard to do. Taxes exploding, no sewage, sidewalks or service. How about a mayor and not some nebulous old boys and girls club serving their own and their friends...

Worn down and the parking lot sucks. The pizza place is very good though and the KMart is clean and pretty well stocked for an older, smaller store. Don't bother with the Key Food unless you just have to have something right away and don't mind overpaying for it.
