TOPS Friendly Markets — Local services in Town of Clay

I think they are a disgusting food store to put something on sale at a much higher price and offer you some for free example:+0ne six pack of Pepsi 16 oz. Cost no more than 3.99 In any store. They put out coupons in the papers for ; buy 2sixpacks get two free. Which would a bargain if you were being charged the right amount. With them each 6 pack cost over $7 each , i ended up paying almost $17 dollars for 4 six packs. That's more than you would pay buying them individually. I paid for them without even realizing until i happened to look at the cash register. Then ,i told the cashier i did not want them. So i went to the service desk for a refund. The girl behind the desk even said that price was ridiculous. I won't give her name for fear of her being fired. However all the people in my neighborhood said they had heard about several items that tops did...

Went at 9:15pm for Mayo. Chose miracle whip “0n sale” supposed to be $5.49. Charged $9* for 1 qt. jar, $6+ for popsicle fudgies supposed to be $4.88. On sale. Told to come back following AM for refund. REALLY? After talking to 3 clerks, and 2 supervisors, I left with $2.00 and they kept receipt. I give! Keep the other $2.+. don’t ever want to come back. Did I mention being harassed by the “supervisor” for “not being able to hear the clerk as my hearing aid had failed?. Nice touch! Loser. Don’t think my hearing aid caused the overcharge, do you? The $9 + cost of miracle whip was for a larger jar. I was never asked for my Tops card. PS cashiers were very polite. I was a lifelong shopper at that store. But this was not my first...

In the past, I've not been particularly fond of this Tops store. While I think their fresh fruit and vegetables area remains weak, I've seen a marked improvement in the front end area (cashiers). Historically, there would be one cashier working and 3 BSing with the service counter person. Recently, they've been adequately staffed with people. Also, rather than let the line pile up, they're fairly quick to get everyone on a register.

I do like the fact that Top's has in-store butchers. One of their competitors does not, which is a negative.

Overall, I think Top's or at least this store's manager deserves credit for making the store better...
