A very disappointing experience with stylist JOANIE
I have been getting my hair cut/styled/colored at INNOVATIONS for several years by the same stylist and have been VERY satisfied. Because Carissa was going on maturity leave she made arrangements for me to see JOANIE for my cut and color (I bring my own hair color with me as I have been using this color for over 20 years). When asked I was assured by Carissa that the price I was paying her and bringing my own color would be accepted by JOANIE. My first appointment with Joanie was on May 31st at 2pm. As I was pulling into Innovations parking lot my doctor’s office called and wanted me to be seen by my doctor ASAP. I told the girls at the front and asked if I could come back at 3pm for just a cut and reschedule the color at a later date. I apologized several times for the inconvenience but needed to keep this Drs appointment. The girls at the front desk were very accommodating and rescheduled the color for the following week. After being seen by my Dr. I returned to the salon about 2:45pm for my 3pm cut. (JOANIE had cut my hair once before when Carissa was away on her honeymoon.) When my cut was complete Joanie charged me more than what I expected to pay...I think $38. It was about $5 dollars more (no big deal) I paid by credit and told her I would give her a $20 cash tip to cover the cut AND next week’s color tip. The following week I returned on Wed. June 6th for my color with JOANIE. As I sat in the chair I handed the box of color to her. She said “so this is what you are using.” I said yes. She took the color left the room ( I assumed she was going to mix it) came back and said “I am not comfortable using this product to color your hair”. I told her I have been using this product for 20 plus-years and Carissa has been coloring my hair with it for over 2 years now. I said it would be fine (besides she had agreed ahead of time with Carissa to my cut/color as Carissa has always done.) She then said (and I quote) “I am a PROFESSIONAL and will not use this product.” I said “ Joanie WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? You agreed and you knew I bring my own color?” Again she refused. So I told her if she refused to color my hair then I wanted the $20 dollar tip back so I could recalculate the proper tip for just the cut. She refused and said “ I don’t have any cash on me.” I WAS FLOORED!!! If she didn’t want to color my hair then she should never have agreed to take me on as a client. As a hair stylist she is providing a service and the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT! She should have been more accommodating. I had an appointment which was just wasted...she should have colored My hair using my color this once AND explain any future appointments she would use salon products only. She was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! As I was leaving I stopped by the front desk and asked to speak with a manager. Apparently there was no one in charge so I talked in private with a young woman (I didn’t get her name...she had purple highlights in her hair). I told her everything that had just happened. She apologized and said she could make an appointment with another stylist for me. She did.. 2 days later with Aaron. I was grateful for her service.
I am appalled at Joanie’s unprofessionalism and feels she needs in-depth training in “people skills!”
I will continue coming to Innovations because of the excellent service provided by Carissa. She goes out of her way to make sure I am happy with the service she provides and represents herself as a true professional!!! Thank you Carissa! You...
Read moreI came into this salon yesterday May 10th, 2018. My stylist was Vanessa. I’ve never had such unprofessional service. I booked an appointment for a balayage and instead she did a full foil from the root of my hair. I wanted a color that was ash brown and came out looking almost grey and brassy.
Not only that, once I told her I was not satsisfied with the color she persisted that I had to pay she didn’t change the price. And that she will fix it another time that we agreed on. (I am a full time student and I work 4-10pm Tues-Sun) leaving me with literally no time. She not only wasted my time but her own. I have never had someone tell me so many excuses in why my hair came out the way it did..
She ruined my confidence, I came in there hoping to come out more confident in myself. I have worked so hard on loving myself and going on a self-love journey. This has to be the 1st review that I have ever wrote because I would never go to a place that doesn’t value their clients opinion and consider how they feel.
My hair looks awful, I have a white streak in the front that she said looked “funky” and that she liked it and that I should keep it. Not only did she mess up the color but she was consulting with other stylist about our conversation saying that it’s what I asked for and all the stylist in the room said they didn’t hear our conversation. With other clients in the room she kept reaching out to them for their approval and they were laughing. I told the stylist I was uncomfortable with the way she went about it and that she should have taken me aside and talked about the issue instead of discussing with the room while other clients are there for their experience.
I asked for a refund the next day and told her I’d rather her not work on my hair again because she didn’t do a good job at it initially for me to come back and have her touch my hair again. I’m a genuine and honest person and I’m so shocked with the way my hair came out and the way she handled it. I’m so disappointed.
They said I couldn’t get a refund and that I’d have to have her fix my hair. The last person I want touching my hair is a unprofessional stylist that screwed it up the first time. I’m so frustrated with this salon. You need to fix your own mistakes sometimes and own up to it and this stylist found every excuse not to.
I’d recommend anyone thinking about this place to really consider other salons like J. Luxe salon or Pure. This place is horrible, and made me feel worse...
Read moreThis is probably the worst and most unprofessional salon I have ever been to. They are overpriced, yet their service is subpar. I went here to get my hair and make-up done for my graduation. WORST MISTAKE EVER.
First my hair apt with Kaitlin was supposed to start at 1 PM, she was running late, and started me at 1:30. I wanted a simple blow out with curls. She told me they do not wash hair for this, I have gotten my hair done many times and have never heard of such a thing. I asked her to please wash my hair, and they said that would be an extra cost and the hairdresser was like, I have my next apt in 15 mins... when she is the one starting me 30 mins late in the 1st place. She then washes my hair, does the entire job in less than 20 mins. Then goes on to charge me $70 for this. My hair was OK (def not worth 70 bucks), and I had to redo my curls by the time I got home.
Now lets talk about the make-up, done by Roe. I have gotten professional make up many times. This was by far the worst. I wanted to get my make up done to look prettier, but this lady made me look 10x uglier. I had random lines of highlight and blush on my cheeks, which was not blended at all. I asked for a winged liner, which she certainly did not do. My lips looked blue like I had hypothermia. The eyeliner was crooked. The lashes were way above my actual lash line, and were also falling off. I wiped it all off and did my own make up at home.
BTW, the salon is extremely dim, so when I saw my face in the light, I was shocked.
I called and complained about how dissatisfied I was, and that I was re-doing my make up at home. They apologized and stated I was going to get a refund. They took my card number and confirmed that they processed the refund and that it would show up on my statement in 1 business day. I thanked them. I get a phone call from them 30 mins later stating they do not give refunds for make up. When I told them that someone had just confirmed with me about the refund, they called me a liar. I asked to speak to the lady who I spoke to previously who had confirmed the refund, and they said she had left..... how rude and unprofessional! This is the WORST salon I have ever been to and will NEVER step foot in...
