Hudson Valley HiFi — Local services in Town of Cornwall

I found Hudson Valley HiFi in Florida, NY via a google search and they appeared to be the closest qualified shop to restore a vintage Marantz 7T preamp I recently acquired. It's a 2 hour drive to their shop for me, but the trip was well worth it. The 7T would not even power up, but Mike seemed confident they get it going again. Turns out the power supply caps were shot. They ended up replacing the power supply caps, along with a full recap and several signal transistors.

While there, I was spied a Dynaco ST-70 on the shelf they had recently restored. That ended up coming home with me too, and both units are singing along happily in home office.

Post sale, Mike helped me out with troubleshooting the ST-70 and was able to determine via email that the rectifier tube probably needed replacement. He shipped one out right away, and he was absolutely correct in his analysis.

These guys have tremendous talent, and I enthusiastically recommend them for any vintage repair work you may need, or if you're just looking for some new or vintage equipment. If ever you are in need of assistance with repairing equipment you already own, or looking to purchase for the first time, I cannot recommend Hudson Valley HiFi enough. I have a Rega RP1 which is about 12 yrs old and suddenly was no longer working after all these years. I was concerned that I would have trouble finding a location I could trust to either repair my gear or assist me in securing a new one. We made the hour long drive from The Bronx up to Cornwall and I couldnt be happier with my decision to do so. Kevin and Mike are so incredibly knowledgeable, professional and patient, making it one of the finer customer experiences Ive honestly ever had anywhere and I genuinely am looking forward to going back (hopefully to purchase some sweet speakers). Mike and Kevin are honest, knowledgable, and patiently answered all my questions. We discussed my limited budget, and unlike a lot of high end audio stores, I was not made to feel unworthy of their time and services. They set me up with a great sounding, and quality system. As far as integrity goes, you won't find anyone better. (even at their own expense). For example, when I wanted to make an expensive stylus upgrade to my turntable, they immediately advised me against my idea stating my tone arm wouldn't handle it, costing themselves a sale, and saving me a lot of money. (Who else would do that)?!!! So happy with my Rega turntable purchase, and Rogue Sphinx amp. I'll be back for the speakers they recommended, and let me hear through my amp ASAP.
