Cielito Lindo Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Cornwall

The food was good. The service was good. But there were several items added to the bill that we did not expect (aka was not notified ahead of time) and we walked out of the restaurant feeling ripped off.

1. the waitress gave us complementary chips and salsa in the beginning and casually asked if we wanted a refill - which we did, because we thought it was complementary - but we were charged $3.50 for the refill without being noticed.
2. the waitress asked if we wanted any drinks and we said water - and gave us 2 water bottles (didn’t ask us if we wanted tap or bottled water) and charged us $4.00. I guess this is fair because we should have known bottled water is not for free. Still, it would have been nice if she had given us a choice.
3. I asked for the check and paid with a credit card - we were charged an extra 4% of the bill for the credit card processing fee. When we inquired about this charge, the waitress said it’s indicated on the menu, which we, of course, didn’t get to read because who reads every word on the menu??

It’s too bad the great experience was tainted at the end because we were caught off guard. I don’t mind paying for your services and food - just tell me...

PLEASE make sure you check your bill. If you’re not from around there, they will rip you off. I definitely agree with the other negative reviews. Chips and salsa was given to us without asking and they charged us $6.50. Then when we got the bill and an extra $3.50 was added on for no reason. We were tired from our hike and just wanted to go home so we paid it and tipped an extra $20 in cash. I go home and check my bank statement and my card was overcharged by $10+. Definitely upset and I won’t be back. I highly recommend you pay cash if you decide to...

Small space. Big flavor.

Stopped by late this afternoon for a quick bite, and I was glad I did. Had a chicken and a beef taco, as well as a beef empanada. All freshly prepared, all very, very tasty. They served a complimentary tortilla chips and salsa (both I’d guess were made in house, also both very good). A nice avocado sauce and a haberno sauce on the side, made for the perfect addition of flavor (not that it was really needed). A nice place, not too far off of Route 9W, so easy-peasy to get there if you are traveling north or south.
