My son and I had spent the morning checking out Best Buy, Suess, and had planned to stop at Sound World. From time to time, i enjoy checking out the latest offerings in higher end home audio/video. I’m a consumer that does a fair amount of research prior to ever setting foot in a store. I like to take it all in, see what’s available, then connect with a sales associate as necessary.
We were politely greeted upon entering (by Alex Volkman) which I appreciate. I shared with him that we wanted to take a few minutes, check out their store, and that Id let them know what questions I had. He seemed to be cool with that and respect our desire to look around. Not 30 seconds later, another sales associates - Jordan Endries - came and stood uncomfortably close behind me (in the door way of one of their theater rooms). I turned around, came up with some questions so as to not have an awkward silence. He initially seemed polite (though didn’t say a word until spoken to) but as I made my way past him, he walked so close to me I felt he was about to step on my heels. As I entered the next room - still hoping to have some space to see what they had - he positioned him self again in the doorway, as if he was waiting for me to try and steal something. At this point, I stopped and reiterated to him what I had told Alex when I arrived. He interrupted me, and said “his boss wouldn’t let him leave my side. After a couple more attempts explaining again why I was there, he started getting argumentative. At this point, I said forget it, this was ridiculous, and that I would shop somewhere else. He responded , “Good. Then leave, we don’t need you here.” I then asked him who he reported to. He initially said “Tim Suess” and when I told him that I’d just reach out to him directly to share my experience, he said, “Tim actually reports to me. I’m the owner.”
Now, perhaps that is the case, and Suess Electronics is actually owned by Jordan Endries. It would just be a shame to see a local business that takes pride in their history and that is known for their excellent customer service, to have gone down hill in recent years. I don’t appreciate being treated like a thief. It seems (based on others reviews), not everyone gets this same treatment. Based on my experience, I don’t see why anyone would spend...
Read moreI have bought a few items from Suess over the past year (approx. $9k) Every time I bought something they were able to help me answer any questions I had.
Pricing is not great, you pay MSRP, so you will likely be able to find the same product for less elsewhere. Though at Suess I find you're paying for their customer service. Some electronics I know what I want, I will pass on Suess as I know I can get it elsewhere for less as pretty much any other electrics/home theater shops will provide a discount of 10-15+% off MSRP.
Biggest problems I have had was with the owner. Before making my first purchase he assisted me on some products they sell that may fit my needs for my home theater. At one point he asked me if i "had purchased anything previously from Suess electronics and if I was going to actually purchase anything, as they are not in business to just provide advice." I honestly thought he just worded it poorly, but looking back, I think he really meant to say it in such a way. Definitely unprofessional.
I also purchased a sofa from Suess. Love the sofa, but the delivery people don't seem to have much experience in delivering sofas. Took them just over one and a half hours to get it in the house. (Delivery fee they tried to charge at the time of delivery would have been just over $300. I live 5 miles from Suess.)
Later that day we noticed that they delivered the sofa missing the lumbar option that we had added to it. I called the store and an individual that answered the phone told me not to worry as I didn't actually pay for lumbar so everything should be good. Even though I have emails showing that I clearly wanted the option, They tried to get me to settle with what they delivered without actually delivering what we ordered.
Next, The installation guy that installed the outlet speaker wire boxes, installed them at different heights on the front left/center/ front right. We just fixed it ourselves. He also installed an extra coaxal cable and we got charged for it. We will need to get a refund for that.
Salesman George and Jason are also pretty awesome guys. Had fun working with them. 5 thumbs...
Read moreI couple of weeks ago working with Bill Demke I purchased a great pair of Bower & Wilkens 706-S2 Bookshelf speakers. I wanted speakers that would reproduce realistic music like I experienced at live concerts of my favorite artists. They are just what I wanted. I couldn't be happier. I enjoy listening to them as often as I can.
Bill helped me find the right pair of speakers for me. With his experience and knowledge he answered all the questions I needed answers to. And I asked a lot of questions. He listened to me. He gave me great advice and a better understanding of audio components that I couldn’t find on my own. He understood what I wanted. He guided me to my selection of the speakers that were right for me.
Bill wanted to help me find a pair of speakers that I would be happy with. He did that.
Because of a bad experience in the past at Suess, I was hesitant to come back again. If it wasn’t for the help Bill gave me, I am not sure I would have made my purchase at Suess. My great experience working with Bill has changed my mind about Suess and I did go back a week later and buy a DENON HEOS LINK that Bill suggested to allow me to stream music through my current receiver. I am happy with that component. It allows me to listen to streaming music through those great pair of speakers.
After telling a friend about my purchase at Suess. He asked who I worked with. When I told him it was Bill. He commented that he also had a good experience with Bill in the past. And that he was impressed with Bills knowledge of Audio equipment.
I highly recommend Suess and Bill to help you find what you need when shopping for audio equipment. I look forward to going back again for any...
