The dine-in movie concept sounds great but if it's not executed well, it ends up being a bad experience. Today it wasn't executed well. Knowing that I don't like the anxiety of having the movie-watching experience disrupted by the logistics of ordering and receiving food, we arrived 20 minutes early so that we could get in the theater and get our order placed. But our particular theater was closed for cleaning so everyone had to wait outside the theater door for about 15 minutes while the staff cleared dishes, etc. Just our lucky day. When we got in, the lights were already low for previews so my phone couldn't see the QR code. So I had to take it to a nearby floor lamp to scan it. I ordered a bunch of food for me and my kids right before the previews started. Now my least favorite part of the dine-in movie experience: not being able to be immersed in the movie because I'm waiting for the food, wondering if it's about to come, etc. That's not LOOK's fault obviously but the point is that this is where execution is key. If the food comes out promptly and correctly, it's awesome. If it doesn't, you just wished you never ordered anything at all and didn't have to sit there being annoyed instead of being relaxed and able to enjoy the movie. Anyway, drinks and candy came relatively quickly, though they didn't have the candy we had ordered - a minor thing, but just another annoyance on top of the others. But no popcorn and no cheesy garlic bread. My impatient son is crawling over to my chaise longue (these are way too close to the screen - I do not recommend) literally every 10 minutes asking me where the food is because he's REALLY HUNGRY. I don't know where the food is, kid. Adversity builds character though that's not a lesson you necessarily expect to learn at a movie theater. But I agree with him - popcorn shouldn't take an hour to prepare. I check the app, hooray - there is a button to call the server and check on the order, but, boo - it doesn't function. Wonderful. I don't want to leave the movie to go on an investigation, but finally after over an hour I leave the theater to check on the food. A nice bartender responded "Oh, yeah - everyone is having the same problem, the kitchen is like an hour behind orders". Fantastic. Glad I spent that $77. She goes and grabs me a large popcorn, which I appreciated. The cheesy garlic bread was delivered to us about 10 minutes later. Who knows if I ever would have gotten either if I hadn't left my seat to check on it? And if I hadn't, I'm sure they would have given me a refund: I didn't get the sense that anyone wasn't trying to be helpful. But the message is: for this business model, trying and failing is much worse than not trying at all.
I have had similarly frustrating experiences at other dine-in cinemas and so for me personally I'm done with the whole thing. I'm totally fine standing in line before the movie to get popcorn and candy and then being done with all of that while the movie is playing. Today I wanted to splurge a little with my kids (yes it's Father's Day) but they ended up being frustrated by the whole thing too (I think my son crawled over to my seat about 7 times to ask about his garlic bread which I'm sure was not distracting to everyone else in the theater).
I have been here before and it was fine, so I'm not trying to trash LOOK but today was not a good experience. My interaction with the employees was great - everyone was professional and tried to help, but something systemic was off that they...
Read moreI loved that a new dine in movie theater opened up less than a five minute drive away from me. The theater was easy to find, but parking in the front was very limited, maybe 40 spots max. I don't know where the additional parking is, but I came mid day for lunch and was fortunate to find a spot despite the lot being nearly full. The theater itself was very clean and modern as would be expected with a brand new theater. The staff were very helpful and quickly directed me to the appropriate theater. I say down at my seat and tried scanning the qr code attached to table which didn't work despite multiple attempts Fortunately I came in for lunch so the theater was pretty empty. I was able to scan the code of the seat next to me and order. The server seemed confused about where to bring the meals even though I was the only patron in the entire row. I could set this being a problem if it was a packed theater or sold out show. Still, he was friendly enough and the service was prompt.
So far every thing was good enough until I got my food. My whole dining experience was very sub par. The cheesy bread I ordered was way undercooked. I mean the outside looked like it was cooked just fine, but the inside still had raw dough. I'm wondering if they just took it out frozen and threw it in the oven without allowing it to thaw properly. I ordered loaded fries and it was barely warm. They also didn't give me any utensils and no wet wipes. If you expect me to eat greasy food with my hands, at least provide wet wipes. There were hardly had any paper napkins either. For these reasons, my food mostly went untouched. I also ordered the coconut chicken and shrimp. The outside was cooked just fine and the texture was nice and crispy, but the taste and quality of the food itself was terrible. The chicken tasted old and tough, not fresh. Almost like it had been sitting in the freezer for months before they finally pulled it out and then fried it in oil that tasted let some other food was burned in it. Again, barely touched that. Still feeling hungry, I decided to give their dessert a try. I ordered the New Orleans beignets and was let down again. Just like the cheesy bread, the outside looked just fine, but the dough inside was raw when you got near the center. Again I hardly touched it. The only thing that they did get right were the drinks.
Honestly, I wish I had something more positive to say because I really wanted to like this theater. I enjoy the dine in movie experience and was very happy to see a new theater in my area that provided this service. Unfortunately, the problem here is the theater may be too new and the food left a lot to be desired. With that being said, I'm really hoping things will improve since it just opened a couple of months ago. Being that it was a new theater, I was looking out for a survey that I could fill out to send to the manager or customer service, but none came. Sad, because I'm sure they would like to know about the experience I had, and I'm hoping they read this review and will improve on things. I gave 2 stars for the theater and the service, but otherwise will look elsewhere for my dine in theater excursions. I'll try the theater again in a few months. I hope by then the quality of the food improves, but I'm not...
Read moreMy recent visit to Look Dine-In Cinemas in Dobbs Ferry was an unfortunate and disastrous experience from start to finish. I had high hopes for an enjoyable movie night with dine-in service, but it turned out to be a complete letdown.
The most glaring issue was the excessively long wait time for my food. The items I ordered together and intended to eat simultaneously were brought out randomly, with intervals of 20 to 30 minutes between each dish. This disrupted the flow of my dining experience and left me frustrated and hungry throughout the entire movie.
Attempting to reach out to the waiters through the app proved utterly futile. It seemed as if they were completely unresponsive, leaving me to fend for myself in this date night gone wrong.
When I finally managed to get the attention of a waiter and inquired about the missing items from my order, their nonchalant response only added insult to injury. Their casual dismissal of my hour-long wait for the rest of my food was completely unacceptable.
To add insult to injury, I watched a three-hour movie and never received the item I was most excited to enjoy during the screening. It was a disheartening realization that my desired food item never made its way to me despite the exorbitant wait.
After the movie ended, I sought to voice my complaint and request a refund. However, the staff member I approached claimed to be unable to locate my order at that moment. They assured me that I would receive a refund later, but to this day, I have not received any reimbursement.
Now, I am left with the burden of contacting my credit card company to pursue a refund, adding unnecessary hassle to an already disappointing experience. Look Dine-In Cinemas has not only ruined my date and dine-in movie experience but also failed to rectify their mistakes and provide adequate customer service.
Considering the abysmal service, excessively long wait times, lack of responsiveness, and the failure to deliver on their promises, I will never set foot in Look Dine-in Cinemas again. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this establishment at all costs.
Note: This review reflects my personal experience and honest opinion of Look Dine-in Cinemas in...
