Night and day from my last time there. The last time I was there after being septic from a d&c and the African American woman would not let me use the bathroom the other nurses were walking me to. She said I had to use the other one down the hall I couldnât even walk and even the other nurses thought she was nuts. My bed was outside in the hall and I kid you not that woman stood at the nursing station the entire time on like bathroom police duty. It felt very much like she did not like white people. My family is mixed so jokes on her but I almost didnât come back because of that. She called a cleaning crew and told everyone it was because I used that bathroom and contaminated it. She kept pointing me out to everyone it was really terrible when your sick like that especially. This was like 3 months ago.
I was hesitant to go back but my mom used to have great experiences there and south Nassau is bad in other ways⌠so I went back to LIJ the other day and you can tell when people care and when they donât and I can tell you the nurses that were on duty the night of 4/30 truly cared. Not just the nurses the entire staff. The transport team. Everyone was so kind. They checked on me a lot. They explained the call button they monitored my heart and oxygen. They listened to me for the most part. (Although I still donât know why every time I lay on my left side my respiratory levels drop). And I canât blame the equipment because itâs every time and every hospital. The nurse with the long red hair/strawberry blonde was so caring and so on top of her patients. They actually made sure I could walk before discharging me unlike south Nassau that let me collapse in the parking lot and I ended right back there. They explained everything to me. They asked me if I was okay being discharged. I wasnât because Iâm still in pain and donât really think liver enzymess being low wbc being high and respiratory levels extremelyyyyyyyyyy lowâŚI felt they should have done more tests as the doctors donât really know whatâs going on as I have so many symptoms. But at the end of the day they still made me feel like I had an option. The doctor was probably the least helpful. I have had confusion lately and he was not very considerate and just wanted to say his piece and discharge me. So I donât believe you really have the option to stay but they at least make you feel that way. Anyway the entire staff was so nice and so caring. I really appreciated that and felt safe. Itâs not something Iâve seen in healthcare since I...
Read moreThis review is for the Emergency Room. Only go here if you're having trouble breathing or are having chest pains, otherwise you will have a long wait ahead of you. I was here yesterday for abdominal pain and back pain. It took 3.5 HOURS just to go from the waiting room to getting a bed. I watched people that came before me get called before me because they prioritize and let the less severe cases fall through the cracks. I waited FOREVER for an ultrasound and possible Cat Scan. To make matters worse, when they finally came to get me for the ultrasound, the lady that came to get me left me because my bladder wasn't full while they put another patient ahead of me. NONE of the nurses had told me I needed a full bladder prior to this or I would have been prepared. When I finally got my ultrasound after 9pm, the ultrasound tech (nice guy, no complaints) told me that he was waiting for my bladder to be full since 5pm and had called for me. The nurses told me he was lying, but who knows. Not to mention,While waiting for hours for the ultrasound I called the hospital and spoke to the operator to try to get answers as far as how long my wait would be. I got a better response out of doing that than relying on the staff to keep me updated. After the ultrasound, I asked one of the nurses how long my wait would be. I asked her if it would be an hour, and she said probably 1 or 1.5 hours. Shortly after I saw a nurse, told her to remove my IV, then went to the receptionist and told her I want a doctor to review my results now, then no matter the outcome I'm leaving. I complained about the issues I listed. I'm not blaming a particular staff member but this hospital is so disorganized, there's no communication whatsoever, I've even heard staff members give eachother attitudes because they needed help and expected it from eachother, it's just ratchet. Think twice before coming here, unless you want to be here all day. I hope this review...
Read moreOn March 13th I came to LIJ Valley Stream ER since I was not feeling well. I had really bad flu like symptoms and was feeling very weak. This is the first time visiting this hospital. I moved in the neighborhood 6 minutes away. I thought maybe I should just stay close to home, despite I read reviews and it wasn't as I expected. I was determined to give it a try. I arrived almost at 7am. I got registered, triage. Due to my abnormal vitals I was taken into a beautiful clean room in the ER department. The nurse came to see me and from my triage report she hook up a IV to my arm and took some test. Later an X-ray was done follow by two CT scan and the doctor came by to see me and he as amazing due to my diagnosis. I was admitted and I went up to the floor. All the people that cross my path in the ER from registration, techs, RNâs, transporter, janitor, engineering wish me well. Everyone was amazing. I felt so safe and knew I was in the right place. I was very happy from the bottom of my heart. As I move to the floor, I couldnât be happier not a single person that cross my path didnât wish me well. Everyone wish me to get well soon and I felt that was a blessing. I am so happy I came here. I am still here and hoping to leave soon. I really felt so much better and full of energy. I felt I got blessed by all the employees not a single person look at me in disgust everyone amazes me I am so thankful for all of the them. With their positivity and their well wishes I felt 100% better than when I first came in and my long review is because of my happiness and my recovery I got from LIJ Valley Stream, Northwell Health Hospital. Many many thank you to each and everyone of you. May God blessed all of youđđź. Youâre all...
