Gala Foods Supermarket — Local services in Town of Hempstead

They always have fresh vegetables and fish. The reason why I go there weekly for a bulk of groceries for the program. The men that are arranging the vegetables are friendly and also the fish area. My issue are the cashiers. They have the horrible cashiers of all the supermarkets in the island. They never help the costumers to put their food in the cart or bag because according to them it’s not their job. They got their phone or talking among themselves while the costumers have difficulty on accommodating the food on the cart. The management are paying them with their time and I think those cashiers are used on doing it. I am a regular weekly costumer and I talked to several people who have the same experienced. To future consumers, if you are purchasing milk from Gala, ensure you open your milk within 48 hours, do not wait until the end of the week because God forbid if that seal is broken when you bought it, you cannot return nor get a refund.

Unfortunately these people only cater to the Hispanic community and would not try to accommodate you. They barely understand English and are rude. Produce is also not fresh, especially the battered mangoes they season with paprika or whatever red stuff they put on that. I rather take my business elsewhere. I refuse to give my money to these type of people with low end...

Gala needs to advertise the exact time they close. They have that they close by a certain time when in actuality they close 15 minutes earlier. This is why the bigger supermarkets get more business. The owner did respond to my review which is appreciated. The Gala location is was referring to is the one on Main Street. This is not the first time this has happened. This has happened on a few Sundays. I get off of work at 730p and it takes me exactly 15 minutes to get to Freeport. I'm sure if you run the cameras back a couple of Sundays you will see that they are locking the doors approximately 745p. I'm sure consumers wouldn't have any complaints if the information on Google showed a close time of 745p...
