In some ways there are pros about this campus and some disadvantages. For starters, the pros about it are first and foremost, if you live close to it or live between 20-35 minutes away, then it's no problem. Pro 2 is that there are guidance counselors who want the best for students, whether they drop out or want to pull the semester off. Pro 3 nice outside areas to eat your food. Pro 4: You can start your own club. I didn't but attended the Newman Catholic Club, and the advisors/president and treasury were a nice trio to work with. In 2018 and 2019, for all Nassau Community College, there were terrific banquets I attended to in which I have proof I was a student there. Pro 5: There are plenty of scholarship opportunities that can help with investing and pay tuition easier instead of the temptation of always getting student loans. Pro 6 If you have special needs, the TRiO program is a great incentive to take advantage of with a friendly math tutor named Matt. Pro 7: If you have a part-time job before or hours after having classes per semester, seeking help from all the departments for tutoring and the library staff are accommodating for additional help, including the Math Center. Pro 8: The bathrooms have air dryers to use as an environmentally friendly alternative to paper towels to reduce wasting paper.
Cons for starters. Con 1: The bathroom door locks in more than half are malfunctioned, not giving enough privacy. Hopefully, that changed. Con 2: Not all professors have a student's first agenda or friendly in which I have experienced some that didn't want to genuinely work with me if there was an issue. I call it a mistake for my time wasted in their classes in which I dropped some due to mental and educational troubles. Con 3 is somewhat similar Con 2. Con 3: some professors don't have office hours nor bother to promote them when a semester starts, but some act uncaring, surprised or disappointed if struggling students want to drop out or go from passing to failing or failing the entire class as a whole which can waste time for students that want help from professors that design projects, tests and quizzes, but refuse to promote office hours which promotes a toxic student/professor relationship which should raise red flags for all departments that have professors that have anything lower than a 3 out of 5 stars or just unwilling to promote office hours to students that pay college tuition to invest in a better education by actually learning from the lectures and some put down students in a degrading fashion without praising their efforts on an assignment which happened to me several times. Abysmal actions like these should be banned if anyone wants to be an educator at any school or campus. My uncaring professor did that to me in his Drawing 1 class my first semester nearly 6 years ago which should appall anyone wanting an A in all classes and going to a place to feel safe, accepted fairly regardless of gender, personality, political or religious ideologies with professors as role models and approaching without regrets from students either after 2 years or more if you want an associate's degree of any major. Con 4: The cafeteria isn't the cleanliest area with sometimes weird odors. Con 5: Some food served can be pretty pricey at the campus cafeteria. Con 6: Unable to have your own personal lockers as a storage container except the P building if doing Phys Ed to place any supplies, winter wear in frigid or cold weather especially if you have 4 or more classes that require textbooks, art supplies, binders, pencil cases or a way to be a hand free from carrying everything from class to class even far apart buildings.
My best advice is to be prepared by bracing yourselves doing face to face classes this Spring 2024 semester. Be your own advocate and stand up for what you believe should be the positive qualities of an education at this place and for all 4...

Read moreWas thinking of re-enrolling to NCC after a few years of not attending. Met with a very nice woman at the SSC who told me since I was on academic probation when I last attended I would have to meet with an advisor at the CERC office who could help with the reenrolling process and guide me in my next steps towards coming back to school. I was greeted by a nasty, bitter cross eyed older woman at the CERC who told me to leave since I wasn’t re-enrolled yet. When I mentioned that I was told she was supposed to help me with the whole process since I haven’t attended in years and I wasn’t sure where to begin I was rudely cut off with “They gave you the wrong information, there’s nothing I can do” as I was shooed out of the office. Disgusting behavior, you’d be better off learning a trade or something that’ll help you...
