Best birthday party yet! My daughter just turned 8. She loves animals and wants to be a Veterinarian when she grows up. I found Anthony's business - called "Uncle Tony's Reptile Shack" - online. I saw the other Google reviews. I called and asked for a copy of his Certificate of Insurance before the party. He provided it no problem. That made me comfortable. My wife and I thought my daughter would only want cute cuddly animals but to my surprise my daughter absolutely wanted this show. And she was right - it was amazing. Anthony has a wealth of knowledge and completely engaged all the kids and parents. Anthony captured their attention immediately and kept it the whole hour - they didn't stop cheering and laughing. Anthony's business is also breeding and selling reptiles and it seems he's a founder of a Long Island Reptile Expo. When I asked he said he started it. He appears to take very good care of these animals. As he was putting them away he actually asked if I could hold off discussing payment method for a few moments as he needed to get the AC going in his suburban so the animals would be in the proper temperature. His animals are very clean and docile. The only dangerous one was actually the giant tortoise because it snaps and its beak can take off a hand. I found it amusing that the innocent tortoise was the one animal that the kids couldn't handle while they were hugging and petting snakes named Banana and Maria (and Maria was gigantic!) as well as a bearded Dragon named Spike and a Tarantula. They did get one mamal. Anthony brought a ferret who loved getting his belly scratched. Payment was easy and cost was very reasonable. I looked up party options and if I had ordered a standard petting zoo - it would have been much less exciting or educational. It also would have cost much more money. Suffice it to say we are glad we used Anthony ("Uncle Tony's Reptile Shack"). He's a relatively young guy who studied wildlife science, interned in Texas with reptiles, worked at a Zoo and went on to start his own business back on Long Island. Our daughter's party was a blast for both the kids and parents and well worth his very reasonable price. A++ for "Uncle Tony's...
Read moreI went to a few events and they had some animals from "Uncle Tony's". One woman was extremely knowledgeable about the set of animals she was with. I thought it was a great experience. However at a different event with a different caretaker (also from Uncle Tony's), it became obvious to me that this caretaker wasn't actually taking care of them. The animals were highly agitated by the noise and were placed too close to the speaker system. Trying to burrow and hide from the noise, lights and constant sounds of children screeching. Add being locked in a too small cage and of course you're going to have a freaked out animal. I tried to tell the woman but she told me to "mind my business". I don't think that was necessary, when you're not doing your duty and the animal was clearly in distress. I feel sad now when I see your animals. Please, be nicer to them and treat them better. They never agreed to work for you, some humans stole them from their home and sold them. They didn't consent to being a sideshow act. The least you can do is treat them with compassion. Please find it in yourself to treat these animals with respect, and not just a means to a paycheck. You're not even giving them the bare minimum, and that's really upsetting....
Read moreMy son is in love with animals and I knew for his 5th birthday party I wanted to have a live animal show for him. His birthday party theme was Jurassic World and I searched high and low for the perfect animals to come in attendance. I came across Uncle Tony's Reptile Shack website and I knew this was the one. Tony answered my phone call very professional and friendly and explained every detail possible to me on what to expect the day of the show. The day of the show, Rachel came as the presenter and educator for us that day, early enough to give herself some time to set up and was ready to put on a show for the kids. I had all age groups present from 6 months old to as old as 18 years old and when I tell you guys, EVERY CHILD WAS ENGANGED AND ESTATIC about all of the reptiles. I couldn't be anymore happier! We had enough time to see the 7-8 reptiles that came and she was able to give an explanation about each one! There was enough time for the kids to engage with the reptiles during the presentation and even after still enough time to take pictures with them. Uncle Tony Reptile Shack was the HIGHLIGHT of the party!!!! 10/10 WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING MY SON'S...
