I'm really sad to give these guys a low rating. I just moved here from out of country and have been super overwhelmed trying to find reviews of salons.
I took a month of just going through all the reviews of many salons to see who I'd fit with. I called Beautiful People and made a consult a week and a bit in advance for both wedding hair and a dye. I told them that my wedding was April 26th and I'd want to get my hair done a different color before the wedding.
I came to my appointment 10 minutes early and it was slammed. Which is great for them, and a good tell all to tell you that they are a great salon. I don't mind waiting if people are running late so I was patient with that, stuff happens.
My first consult for my bridal hair was lovely. A little rushed but she was very sweet. That's why I'm giving it a 2. I'd give her a 4 if it was just her and the wait.
My second consultation was a disaster. I was at the salon for well over an hour in total for 2 consults that should have taken maybe 30 minutes.
My second stylist was extremely busy so she was consulting me in between clients which is totally fine but.
The stylist didn't want to work with me with what color I wanted which is fine, I understand they have recommendations. I wanted to go a deeper, richer brown and she pulled out a medium copper hair extension, which was just a little more red than my natural color. Why would I spend hundreds of dollars to have the same hair? I was heavily disappointed with the color discussion as she didn't even try and explore colors because she was so rushed. I didn't even get a choice of what we could do, which made it feel like a waste of time already.
The salon booked me with a stylist that was going on vacation the next day and not returning until after my wedding. Thus, wasting my time and hers and because of this:
She scrambled to find someone to refer me to and unfortunately this girl was with a client. She came over and basically said we can do this color (copper extension) with a glaze. There was no discussion or customer service there. She just repeated what the other stylist said and she told me not to go dark. She then put the extension down and walked away.
I was left in the chair not knowing if anyone was coming back. I stayed awkwardly, not knowing what to do because it was so abrupt. Eventually I got up and walked out to the front. My first color stylist was washing someone's hair and the second was drying.
I understand they are busy and the second girl was already with someone, but there wasn't any direction. She just left me in the chair. Not even an "I'm sorry, I have to go back to my chair" or anything. The first stylist who I had booked the color consult with just abandoned me as soon as she realized she wouldn't be booking me and went to someone else. If I had the time booked, should she not have at least stayed and assisted with discussion? I could have been a client after she came back from vacation.
I then waited for at least 5 minutes to talk to the front to cancel all of my appointments because I was so frazzled with how it ended but they were too busy, so I just walked out.
It's sad because I'd love to rate them high. They were all very kind and it seemed like a family inside with how they treated their regular customers.
The bridal stylist also quoted me just under 300 dollars just for clip in extensions. When I asked what brand they were, she completely deflected the question and said they have many brands. I know I can get bellami hair extensions for under what I was quoted and wanted to know if I could just buy my own. It was very dodgey.
All in all, it was a complete waste of my time. Which is super stressful, as I'm so new here and trying to find any salon at this rate is getting daunting, as I'm running...

I really wanted to like this salon, and I didn't want to write a bad review but at this point I feel others should be warned before going here. I tried booking an appointment online only to be told that they had my information, but no record of my appointment, when I showed up for my appointment requesting full highlights, I was only booked for a partial.
I ended up paying 300 for a partial highlight, hair cut and blow out. For this price I expect nothing less than professional high quality results; however I was greatly disappointed and left mortified. The first time I left, was with pink orange streak in the front of my hair, and the "highlights" I paid for, were very dark... I went back to give the stylist and the salon a chance to fix it because I believe in human error and second chances; however the Second time was even worse. The "correction" was rushed and as a result my hair color was completely botched. Now, not only was I STILL left with a pink stripe, I was brassy and my highlights were splotchy. There was no care or honesty in the poor quality of their work. They covered the terrible mistake with a side part covering the mistake with other hair during my blow out; told me the pink would wash out and sent me on my way....for 300 dollars this is unacceptable.
I called the salon to let them know about my dissatisfaction and that at this point I wanted a refund for what was done to my hair. They refused my refund and insisted that instead I return THIRD TIME after already wasting a large amount of my time and resources already giving them a second chance to fix it. There was absolutely no way I was going to risk further damage, waste even more resources and trust this salon a third time. I'm not upset at the stylist, but the salon with the way they handle things. As a patron, I expect honesty; when I didn't get that, I expected to be respected as a consumer. Unfortunately their only interest is making and keeping your money. I Had to go and get professional color correction elsewhere. My experience here from start to finish was atrocious at an over inflated price point. I would avoid this salon...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been a loyal client of Beautiful People on Merrick Rd for years. Iāve always appreciated the professionalism, quality of work, and relationships Iāve built with the staff, including Larissa, whom Iāve known for quite some time.
However, todayās experience left me shocked, disappointed, and hurt.
Due to heavy rain and traffic, I arrived 5 minutes late to my appointment. I have never been late before. In fact, Iāve often waited over 20 minutes past my scheduled time with patience and understanding ā without ever complaining. Thatās part of being a respectful and loyal client.
Today, Larissa approached me abruptly, with a sharp tone and dismissive attitude, telling me she would only do half of my service and have someone else finish it because I was late. I calmly reminded her that Iāve waited for her many times before without issue, and that I had specifically booked this appointment to have my service done with her.
Larissa is one of the more expensive stylists at the salon ā and Iāve always respected her experience and been willing to pay for her skill. But that does not justify being treated with such disrespect. No client ā new or longtime ā should be made to feel dismissed, undervalued, or spoken to with that kind of tone or energy.
I immediately addressed the issue with the manager on site. He kindly offered to credit the service, but that wasnāt the point. I didnāt raise my concern to get something for free ā I raised it because how I was treated was not okay. I came to receive a service I paid for ā with dignity and respect.
What happened today should never happen to anyone else. We all have bad days, but it is never acceptable to take that out on a client. I will no longer be booking services with Larissa, and I hope the salon takes this as an opportunity to reflect, hold staff accountable, and ensure every client is treated with the care, professionalism, and respect they deserve.
Change is needed. Respect is...
