I arrived later in the day so there was a little wait time (maybe 10 minutes), nothing out of the ordinary there, they are very efficient every time I go. I didn’t catch her name, but whoever the phlebotomist was that did my lab work this particular time was excellent. I was apparently very dehydrated by the time I got to the lab and she had trouble finding a place to easily draw from. She didn’t stick me until she was certain though and she got it first try, however being that I was so dehydrated there was barely even a drip. So, without making the whole thing sound any worse than it was (because it wasn’t, just took a little longer than it should have normally), it took about 10 minutes to draw 3 tubes. And the whole time she had to gently work the needle and my arm around trying to get a better flow while also trying to keep the little drip she had going. She did it all in a way though, that I literally didn’t feel a thing after the initial pinch. She is very good at what she does and kept her demeanor calm the entire time as not to make any kind of deal out of something I’m sure she probably sees often enough. I guess I could just say she was just doing her job really well, but I felt I should acknowledge her, because I do get labs drawn regularly and I use this lab every time but it’s the first time I had any issue actually “drawing” the blood. Aside from just the length of time it took for her to get enough in each of the vials, she made it as routine...
Read moreVery friendly, helpful and professional staff. My only comment is that I arrived a half hour early to be the first one for bloodwork but was not called first. Should be first come, first serve, regardless of walk-in or scheduled appointment.
This is an update to my prior post above. Since that visit, Northwell has instituted a company wide procedure whereby calls are routed to some central “Patient Access Representative” location and messages summarizing the patient’s discussion with said representative are then sent to the physician’s or some other medical office to be addressed. In a nutshell, it is now almost impossible to speak directly to the doctor or the doctor’s staff unless they return your call. This makes for a cumbersome, time wasting process. I spent over one and a half hours yesterday seeking an answer to a simple question, an answer I required before going to this Patient Center to have my blood drawn the next day. Although I understand the constantly expanding Nothwell’s perceived need to streamline communications, the nature of medical care is in itself not one...
Read moreI got there at 7;10,I registered on the ipad .People who walked in after me {at least 10 people}were being called for their lab work so I went up to the receptionist and to discover that the registration did not work ..It did not work for another woman either. and 8at am I was told by the receptionist that she could not find my script in my Northwell health Portal.I told her I called the doctor office several day prior and they told me it was sent to my portal in June ,and that it was good for 6 months. This is now August . So I leave , drive to the doctor office and get a paper copy of the script .I was told by my doctors office that YES it diffinately is in my portal.I go back and they do my blood work. The funny {not so funny} thing is that this is the second time this has happened. That was the reason I called my doctor's office to make sure, ahead of going to the lab that the script was in my portal. They do not know how to use the portal. If you are going to use this facility make an appointment and bring a paper copy of...
