The store itself is fine. I love the products and the store is always clean and bright. Sadly, and for the first time ever, I had a rather unpleasant, and infuriating, visit today at the Highland NY store. Upon reaching the register, my wife handed the middle aged cashier named "Ed" a shirt (item# 1272447) and asked him if he could please tell her how much it cost. She explained that her request was due to the fact it was hanging on a rack with a yellow sign over it showing 40% off and a sliding scale "was/now" price chart. But the shirt had two separate yellow price stickers on it. One reading, Was $19.99 & one reading, Now $14.99. Ed grabbed the price tag in his hand, looked at it quickly and said in an irritated voice, "it's $14.99"! Almost as if to say are you stupid or something. He then actually used his hand scanner on the tag and it rang up "$5.28"! Apparently the shirt was on sale for $4.99 + tax. (which mathmatically doesn't make sense either). My wife said "awesome, I'll take he wanted to purchase was scanned in as well.
Ed said our total was $15.98.
My wife said, "We have a Tractor Supply Club Card account, would you be able to look it up by our phone number please?" (to get our points). Ed seemed annoyed that he had to do this and asked what the number was. She gave him the phone number and after he entered it, she could see the customers names on the screen and said that's it there, Barry(my name). Ed clicked on some other account under my name and said "Ok, enter your card" and motioned toward the card reader. My wife said to Ed "that wasn't our account you clicked on". Ed hit some keys on the register attempting to correct this I guess and then stated "Well I can't go back to it"!
My wife was puzzled and just said "whatever, nevermind I guess" and looked at me. We could both tell Ed didn't want to bother and we just figured screw the points, it's easier than dealing with him right now. My wife went to insert her card into the reader and suddenly Ed yelled "Wait!". He did something on the register and stated, I'll have to re-ring it". He rescanned both items and asked my wife for the phone number again to look up our account. My wife once again saw the screen and said "there, the second one down, Barry". Ed clicked on the correct account this time and again motioned for my wife to enter her card into the reader.
My wife attempted to use her debit card, but there was something wrong with the chip on it apparently and it kept saying unreadable/error, or something to that affect. When it rains it pours right? After the 2nd or 3rd attempt, she was about to try the swipe portion on the card reader when Ed almost yelled "STOP"! He was very agitated and it showed clearly on his face. He did something on the register again and said "it's not working, you'll have to use another card"! At that time I handed Ed my card and he almost snatched it out of my hand. At that time I had seen enough of his attitude and I asked him, "How are you today Ed, you seem to be having a bad day". He looked at me like he wanted to blow up and said "why'd you say that"? I stated, "because you seem angry like you you don't want to be here and you are very rude to your customers" Ed then angrily stated "you know what, I'm RETIRED"! Now I should have stopped maybe but I was stunned and angry myself at this point and did say to him, "No, you're at work, but I do think you SHOULD RETIRE because you are downright rude and shouldn't be working with the public"!
Ed was holding out my register receipt and as I went to reach for it He looked furiously at me and JERKED IT BACK! I was like, are you kidding me? I said "give me my receipt Ed" and he kinda threw...
Read moreI feel that you need to know, what my wife and I experienced with the “Upstate Spay & Neuter Services” at the Highland location; it was horrendous. We made the required appointment one month in advance to spay and neuter our four kittens. Upon arrival at 7:15 for the 7:30 am admittance, in which we were the 3rd in line; by the time Bridget Bloom came out of the mobile unit, there were at least 10 people waiting. She called out for the cats first; I approached and presented the carrier with our four shivering kittens. She immediately strongly kicked carrier aside, turned he back and proceeded to accept the cats and dogs that were clearly later arrivals. She approached the pet owners with such attitude and contempt that there was a rift between her and several pet owners causing them to leave the location. She also refused to accept a pet which had the required appointment, which she claimed the pet was infested with fleas. This appeared to be her common practice. If the pet was to be accepted for treatment, she would first need to treat them for fleas at an additional cost. One owner stated she had the medication and treated pet herself and with another owner stating that he was certain that his dog did not have fleas and please check again. They were both refused service and turned away. After a comment was made that she was very unkind and that she should not work with animals; Ms. Bloom actually responded, “No it is people that I should not be working with”. We then left; I would not trust a person like that with my pets. For all my years being a pet owner, I have never witnessed such acts of uncaring, unprofessional conduct. I will never attempt to utilize the Spay & Neuter...
Read moreIf you read my other two tractor supply reviews, you will see that I love this brand. I am a little upset with this one particular store, I ran out ofsupplies for my wood stove on a cold night. I live between the New Windsor store and this one, and googled mapped which one was closer. It was 7:22 PM and I knew they close at 8 PM. Google map showed my arriving to this one at 7:45pm, and New Windsor 7:50pm. I hurried and got there arrival time 7:47 PM, extremely relieved that I made it. Lights were on, items still outside. To my dismay on a night that I desperately needed supplies, they were closed early. I knocked on the door, but they must be trained to ignore the knocks, because no one looked towards the door. As I walked to my car, I advised another customer not to bother getting out of his car they are closed. He said they are open for another 15 minutes, apparently he didn't believe me and he walked up to the door. He was in disbelief, that they locked the doors early. In hind sight I should of driven to New Windsor store, I believe that part of good customer service, is to serve customers up until the time posted. Due to this experience, I will not shop at this...
