This was our first time wanting to try here since Monica’s pies were always our favorite but they obviously closed. Anyways me and my mom drove three hours and waited in line in the rain for 45 minutes to be told they only have 3 pies left in the over as she then auctioned them by saying “I’m not sure if anyone wants one but it’s going to be 15 minutes” so I raised my hand immediately. In fact I was the only one who raised my hand until two people in the front saw me. Mind you I was the third person in line. But a women in front of us with her husband last mine after saying they were together and wanted one pie. So I was told I would get one of the three. Then the women decided she wanted the last pie because she was infront of me and she said because she can have two. I don’t think that was fair whatsoever. She didn’t say the first three in line if you want them. Nope my mom was a witness that they were auctioned and I raised my hand first but was completely dismissed. Me and my mom usually spent a lot of money on these pies and for this being our first time. The women running the window was absolutely wrong for how she handled that situation. You should have honored the pie I raised my hand for considering NO ONE else raised their hands until they looked at me when the women in the window pointed at me. Then she just allowed everyone else to claim them and said sorry they want two so you won’t get one after I waited and was originally pointed at and told I was going to get the pie. But because she as a worked made the mistake with how she worded it etc she should have honored me getting one pie. Not to mention it’s not fair for others to get more than one. You should have said one per hand raised period. That’s how she announced it and then I was the only one told yes and then told nope sorry because the women infront of me was a horrible human and rude. I don’t think this is how management should handle things. All those poor people who waited for almost an hour if not longer to be told nope. Why didn’t you count your inventory and keep track so people with kids aren’t standing in the rain to be told no sorry we messed up. Anyways, we will not recommend or be returning. We definitely wish Monica’s stayed open. She always had inventory and made sure to have backups. Sad we were hoping to find something close to hers but this won’t be a place we even try again. Good luck next year. Hopefully you have someone running the window that knows how to handle a situation like that. Because we were treated unfair and disrespectful. That wasn’t right...
Read moreI've never tried a grape pie until today at The Grapefest. Fortunately for me, I was left with an incredibly great first impression. We went back for more pies and unsurprisingly they were sold out. Our feet were tired so we went back to the car and then decided to try Monica's Pies just down the road. We've past it over the years and expected some of that similar delicious taste. Unfortunately this simply was not the case at all and Monica needs to go back to the drawing board in my opinion. The filling was unfulfilling and seemed to taste like artificial pie filling from a can. Nothing fresh and organic tasting like Cindy's Pies. We want to go back, and real soon to stock up and also try other pies they may have. I read sad news that Cindy's Pies is for sale. I didn't pay much attention to the sign out front. This is awful news and one can only hope that a future prospective owner doesn't change one darn thing regarding these pies. They are perfect! Don't fix what ain't broke as they say. Thanks...
Read moreOne of my favorite places to visit when I come out to Keuka Lake or Canandaigua Lake. Cindy's sells the best grape pies I've tried during the last 4 years I've been in WNY. They also sell grape filled cookies, small tarts and other variation of grape pies.
When you first pull up to Cindy's, it looks like a quaint home and as you get closer the scent of concord grapes fills the air and brings about a nostalgia to grape jam that we all know.
Most recently when I stopped by to grab some grape pie for my family, it was shocked to see a "for sale" sign. Cindy and her family are looking to sell the home, all the cooking equipment, and recipes. I only home that the new only stay true to the recipes and continue the tradition that Cindy's Pies has...
