As a former Event Planner, I would never have advised anyone to select any service without sampling their work first, especially the entertainment. I was told that "THEY" select the DJ based on the type of music you want played. Be Warned Always Sample Before Buying. In The Mix came recommend by the Venue. Since my other choices were not available I took a chance. I was very upset. I hired this group for my daughter's Sweet Sixteen party. Each candle had a song assigned to it. The songs were played out of order which meant her uncles would have came in on "She a bad Mamma Jamma" had I not intervened. My husband and I came in on a rap song thank God it wasn't the song" Trap Queen". The whole ceremony was ruined. This could have been avoided if the DJ had listen to me when I alerted him to the problem after the first song. He insisted that everything was fine. It took three trips to the DJ stand to correct the same mistakes but by then the damage was done. Also my suggested song list (Fifteen songs to be exact) was not played because I was told after the event that the DJ needed at least thirty days. In all my dealings with Disc Jockeys I had never encountered this problem. In The Mix Entertainment group accepted my list 20 days from the event and could not deliver. The songs were all the latest songs being played at all the sweet sixteen parties I had attended through out the year. Instead the DJ thought it was appropriate to play Jazz at a "SWEET SIXTEEN PARTY ". This group needs to focus on the music not just pushing all the upgraded products. Believe me when I say" Bose speakers are only as good as the music being played from them". PLEASE READ THEIR CONTRACT CAREFULLY. It states that they can not guarantee to fulfill your requested song list if it is not provided thirty days prior to the event. We made the best of it but I did not pay for mediocre I paid for professionalism. My daughter just attended an event where the DJ even took song requests on the spot. We were incredibly particular about exactly what songs we wanted played exactly when and the amount of "pumping up" we wanted from the MC and In the Mix carried out our requests well overall! Additionally, our parents and older relatives were very happy with the volume of the music during the reception. Our interactions with the office assistants in particular were also great. At least their base pricing was reasonable, which we appreciated (we found a way cheaper photobooth option elsewhere).
There were two things that came up on our wedding day, however, that were frustrating. First, we had sent our list of songs weeks in advance and we went over the order, song by song, with the office assistant a few days before the wedding. We were told that we would have to do this again with the DJ just before the reception started, to which I expressed that I really didn't want to do that, as it would detract more time away from enjoying our event; I had emphasized multiple times since signing the contract that I would want to go over everything with the DJ the week of (we were free any day up to the wedding including the day before), and feel that it was inconsiderate of our time on the day of to triple-check everything. That time could have been better used for the DJ to practice our entrance to the reception; the DJ didn't get the timing right of our fairly well-known entrance song, so he had to restart the song part of the way through the entrance, which was quite frustrating to us, as we must have spent upward of 15 minutes just sitting there waiting in a sequestered side room with our wedding party prior...

When we got closer to the wedding, we had a meeting with their coordinator, Phil, who we worked with to create the run of show for our ceremony and reception, and finalize our music selections. Phil was phenomenal and was our point of contact leading up to the wedding. He was responsive, accommodating, and even managed to fit in some last-minute changes to our wedding song and “must play” list.
On the day of our wedding, everything was flawless. Our DJ, Elton, was wonderful, and our MC, Rob, was fun, engaging, and really knew how to keep our guests excited and dancing.
