This jeweler damaged my wedding band. Stay away!

My platinum wedding band is too loose and I'm not ready to have it resized so I stopped in to C & R to explore my options. Without asking me any questions about the ring, the jeweler takes it and puts rough metal ring guard on. The metal edges of the ring guard were painful and I was concerned about damage to the ring. He agrees that it will do damage but says there is no other option. He agrees that it will damage the ring but he puts it on anyway? I ask him to take off the ring guard. When he hands it back, there is a deep scratch in the ring. Platinum has a natural patina and this not that. It is a deep, rough-edged scratch. I now need to get the ring polished and I'm certainly not going to use...
