Highly recommend this place and adore it, always will. Yes, you need an appointment ahead of time. I live in Boston now and I have to do the same here if I want to consign. The tall blonde lady is lovely and I’ve seen people be disgustingly rude to her- even tell her she doesn’t belong here because she’s not American. The customers are sometimes very rude and shocked when they realize the world doesn’t revolve around them.
An update to my review from many years ago because I saw reviews regarding people complaining because they need to make an appointment even if they only have a couple of items. I know the staff and I know they have a booked out schedule, so while looking at your three items doesn’t seem like a lot, you don’t know what their day looks like.
I adore this store and find myself doing most of my clothes shopping here. People always ask where I got my outfit and it always happens to be an item from Next to New. The styles vary anywhere from elegant to club. I often walk out in disbelief for finding a designer piece for less than half of its original price. On top of the great deals, the owner only accepts items that are in mint condition, which means no stains, holes etc. I've been to other consignment and thrift stores in the area as well as in the city, but nothing quite matches up to the quaint "I'm home" feeling, yet maintains a sense of professionalism, cleanliness, and ridiculously reasonable pricing. If this weren't a consignment shop, I would be convinced that Macklemore based his song,"Thrift Shop," on...
Read moreCute quaint little store prices are a bit high for my taist but that is reflected by the fact that it is more consignment then thrift and yes everything seemed to be in mint condition :) just bought me a cute little purple party dress that is a couple sizes to small but is an easy fix cause I'll just make it a lace up back and mind the zipper lol but the dress was just too cute to pass up especially for the $38 dollars I paid for it and yes it seems mint lol
I'm accually from the town Maclemore grew up in (mt Vernon Washington state) and yes I'd have to say if he were a drag queen or even born a women he would defiantly shop here lol even though his song was more about the store value village which is a thrift store chain in Washington state where I've litterally bought all clothes similar to what he wears in his video for at or less than the $20 I had in my pocket lol
But like I said this place is really nice and clean and the lady at the counter seemed nice also so I'll definitely be coming back to buy more dresses to fix up and make my own lol
Mcl and blessed be...
Read moreGot a nasty look the second I walked in and wasn’t greeted or acknowledged at all. Continued to get nasty looks as I browsed. As I waited to check out (I didn’t even want to purchase due to the continued disrespect), the staff member saw I was waiting to check out and left me standing there. I asked if my item was on sale because another customer was talking about items being 50% off and I was screamed at no the item just arrived (in a tone as if I was supposed to know). I asked general questions about how tags work and was scoffed at and got an eye roll.
Beyond the staff, the selection was poor, pricing was very high (they had FashionNova items priced at $49+). I’m an avid vintage collector and this was the worst shopping experience I’ve ever had. Fast fashion, thrift quality at...
