A really great bookstore in a quaint cute town. It’s harder and harder to find any small independent bookstore, let alone one that’s welcoming and friendly. This shop is all of that and more. It’s sparkling clean and updated, with a huge selection tailored to a variety of wants. I love a bit of an edge and sense of humor, and this place has it. There’s a banned books section on the left when you walk in, and incredibly catchy recommendation cards by the staff on shelves throughout the shop. I’m not a big history reader, but Claire’s rec of “Swashbuckling Sugar Daddies” for the book “Pirate Enlightenment, or the Real Libertalia” by David Graeber, hooked me and I had to buy it. When I got up to the counter to pay, the staff was incredibly friendly and we got into a conversation about books and video games and everything in between. I signed up for their free rewards program too, and I can’t wait to come back, find some new good reads, dive into some more great talks, and rack up some loyalty points. Thanks for a good time, and I’ll definitely be back.

Theodore's Books is an absolute gem that every book lover should experience! Stepping inside feels like a warm hug, with its charming and inviting atmosphere. The shelves are thoughtfully curated, boasting a delightful selection that ranges from popular bestsellers to unique hidden literary treasures. What truly sets Theodore's apart is its cozy ambiance. You'll find comfortable seating areas perfect for settling in with a new read, a cute kids table/chairs and children’s section in the back, and the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to offer a recommendation or chat about books. It's more than just a bookstore; it's a community hub where you can discover new stories, attend engaging events, and simply enjoy the quiet pleasure of being surrounded by books. Whether you're looking for a specific title, a thoughtful gift, or just a peaceful escape into the world of literature, Theodore's Books is a must-visit. It's truly a cute and captivating spot that adds so much charm to Oyster Bay!

Quaint independent book store. I commend the owner for creating a welcoming and inviting establishment. Tons of historical books i( including of course Theodore Roosevelt) and of both parties ( saw a book on Nixon’s wife as well as of JFK), loads of unique Long Island themed readings you wouldn’t find at a big box store location. Check out some of their book talks and author signings ( showcased conveniently before you walk in.) purchased a Long Island picture book for my nephew. Support small and read often!
