A cute and classic cafe in a quaint seaside town.
It’s the right blend of modern and modest, crisp and clean, and extremely welcoming. It’s a somewhat small U-shaped shop, with one booth and a long bench with four small tables and extra chairs, so seating is a little limited. Takeout is great, but its worth waiting for a seat to enjoy the ambiance and solid background music.
They have a great selection of teas on top of the usual coffee choices. There’s also a little retail section with bottled drinks and bagged foods, in addition to the freshly made food choices and baked goods. I’m a huge chocolate chip cookie guy, and theirs is exactly my favorite kind. They just pulled a batch from the oven, and it was perfectly crispy on the outside, and chewy and melty on the inside. Definitely coming back just for that.
The staff is extremely friendly, always quick to refill hot water and give suggestions. They also have flyers for local events on the window, so it’s a nice neighborhood hub. Check it out and...
Read moreAlways have a positive experience at Southdown. While I wouldn't consider myself a coffee expert, it is clear that they serve a high-quality product. A great option if you want a more fulfilling coffee experience than you can find at a deli, and much higher quality than the sugary garbage from Starbucks. Fun to walk in and just try a new brew method just to learn about the different ways coffee is made.
Sure, there is no WiFi, but it's a small place and they have limited seating. Maybe a 5-10 minute walk from the OB library if you really need a place to access the internet.
There is a small public parking lot behind the building, and I have never had to park further than 1-2 blocks away on the street. That's just Oyster Bay for you. It's super close to the park, and it's in a pleasant area for strolling around. I recommend it to all the coffee lovers I meet who are looking for a new...
Read moreSouthdown Coffee is a recommendation from my friends who are extremely addicted to coffee. They took the 3rd place of 2019 US Roastery Championship.
The decor is bright, simple and cozy with plants and wooden furniture. It's a perfect place for an afternoon coffee. There is a great variety of coffee bean options and we had a hard time to make our decisions.
The staff was friendly and patient to introduce all the beans based on what our preferences. We bought Sure Shot, PRIMAVERA & Red 5 de DICIEMBRE, 1 pack of each and one cup of latte. The latte was so smooth, refreshing and flavorful.
They also serve pastries, breakfast and lunch. We had 2 scones, blueberry and cheese, to go. It was delicious with great portion but...
