*I APOLOGIZE THIS IS LONG, ITS IMPORTANT * I have rarely ever found or had issue with Wegmans, or their staff, including their products, prices, services, selection, and professionalism.
Although I am thoroughly disappointed, dissatisfied, and honestly a bit angry.
The two other times I've had issues were 1 specific difficult employee who was quite smug, wavering into an arrogantly passive aggressive attitude but washed that away to hey maybe a bad day.
Next was TWICE purchased:
Aaaand #3..THREE DIFF AUTOMOTIVE PHONE MOUNTS. AND to Wegmans credit, they sincerely helped by refunding one of the purchases, the other two, I ate the loss and tried to modify them to be functional, but honest to God, if the mount remained secure while it held a CLAMSHELL phone, I'd be surprised.
All in all, way more often than not, Wegmans is truly above avg and goes the extra mile.
Buuuuuuut I had to return TWO frozen like medium size Wegmans brand of the QUALITY pizza, i.e. Tuscany blend with dollops of real thick mozzarella and spinach etc. Over $6 each amd something else. I was given a card with the balance bc the two pizzas were sold that orevious evening already already passed the expiration dates. I go to the register with my items, he runs the gift card and I was told it was declined and I PAID FOR IT OUT OF MY OWN POCKET.
SO I bought expired food, had to waste time to return it, then time to go pick out a new meal, which obviously ruined dinner that evening bc she wouldn't even consider eating it bc it was passed due, but by like a cpl days, to which I wasn't happy but I would've eaten them.
I was told the WEGMANS GIFT CARD DIDN'T WORK, PAID TWICE APPARENTLY bc I went to use it and was humiliated when it gets DECLINED AND MORE TIME WASTED, I GET EMBARRASSED NOT WEGMANS, I call to explain what's happened (MORE TIME) AND I'm told there's nothing thst can be done.
You bamboozled me Wegmans. It's like the ball snd cups, I went triple or nothing and lost 3 times, wasted hours, delayed several dinners, and got to be embarrassed ALLLLLL for the low low cost of $20 for expired food, and my time spent in a store during COVID, And my humiliation and user frustration.
You should make good on this Wegmans. I have been a loyal customer, carry a polite disposition to your staff, and ALWAYS have given YOU the benefit of the doubt... but apparently it's not reciprocated.
Thanks for the waste of money, time, energy delays to dinner plans, oh and allllll that frustration and embarrassment.
The #benefitofthedoubt is a...
Read moreMy heart aches & burns for their fresh produce, dying on the vine . . . how does one politely tell this fairly beloved NY company, who you've personally loved watching expand & support their organic products over the years (w/ more every year), that nevertheless at every single store in the area their fresh berries are not being stored, nor monitored for mold by staff, properly. -that their fresh produce, at large, probably averages at around 30% consumed : 70% into-the-garbage, whether put there by staff or an irritated customer later on.
Every time I'm in their stores I'm stunned by the amount of mold I can point to on the shelves & often hand straight over to customer service because an employee hasn't done it thoroughly or at all. -& stunned by the biologically naive nature in which boxes of fresh raspberries & strawberries are left out at room temperature, for days, & sold to customers in that state as a part of the produce section's business as usual. Eventually you just find yourself saying, "I want to buy fresh produce here, but I shouldn't."
Please be more thorough; please make good on, & deploy, your purported commitment to food quality & safety.
Update : years have went by, the shame-worthy situation is exactly the same. You cannot buy fresh produce from this place. Period. 75 - 100% of it will end up in...
Read moreMy home town Wegmans. One of the best Wegmans in the region, in my opinion.
Wegmans is always great for one-stop shopping and I do most of my shopping there. This store is clean, safe, and the employees are present and helpful when needed.
The only thing keeping this from a fifth star, and this isn't this specific store's issue, is the pricing and selection has really gotten out of hand in certain areas over the last few years. Wegmans brand used to be one of many options, but they seem to make up at least half of the store. And it's not that their brand isn't a good product, but it used to be a bargain to get their items at a lower price because it wasn't a big brand name. That is no longer the case in many instances. When the Wegmans brand items are the same price, or maybe a dime lower than the big brands, that whole bargain aspect goes out the window.
I do know that some of this has to do with how COVID has changed the playing field for grocery stores, but these changes started pre-COVID, so I'm not sure what the actual reason is. Overall though, I go every week and do not see that changing any time soon. I just buy less Wegmans brand...
