I recently visited the new City Hall to check if they have a lost and found because my daughter left her backpack at the park and I was hoping one of the parks and rec guys picked it up (ok.. its been built for a while, but its the first time Ive needed to go). No luck as far as the backpack goes, which didn’t suprise me, but I have to say I was pleasantly suprised at how easy it was to get from the receptionist to the Parks and Rec area. In addition to the simple navigation, all the employees we were in contact with were very kind, courteous and helpful. That being said, I have a contractors license and ran a roofing company for years. I have loads of experience dealing with several different city and county building departments and finance offices when I would obtain a job permit or business license. I understand visiting as a resident inquiring about lost snd found is a whole different ball game than visiting as contractor/builder/homeowner etc trying to get a permit (notice I said trying haha) or dealing with inspections etc. For those types of services, I cannot comment. I can say Im not sure the floor that makes it so easy to navigate would be my favorite due to so many departments being in a row at one counter (think bank tellers) with nothing but ait seperating everyone. It just seems it has the potential to get loud if several people Were being helpe at the same time. Then again, I...
Read moreAs a licensed contractor working in Tracy, I am very disappointed with how inspections are scheduled and tracked. The etrackit system is outdated and essentially useless—it only shows “AM” or “PM” with no real updates. Today I had to wait over 4 hours with no communication and no estimated time of arrival from the inspector.
For a city the size of Tracy, it’s unacceptable not to provide at least a minimum 2-hour inspection window. Larger cities are able to do this, and there is no reason why Tracy cannot offer the same level of professionalism. Contractors lose valuable time and money when left waiting all day without any notice.
The City should improve this process immediately by: • Providing contractors with at least a 2-hour ETA window. • Updating etrackit to show real-time inspection status. • Communicating delays or changes directly to contractors.
Until these changes are made, inspections in Tracy will remain a frustrating and unproductive experience for those of us trying to complete projects efficiently and serve...
Read moreWent to pay my utility bill. Easy parking. No line at the counter. Unfortunately, the computer chose my credit card transaction to go down. After staff applied their collective knowledge and calls to IT, provided no solution, staff came up with a brilliant work around. They used the phone line to call in my payment. I even got a payment confirmation number.
Dropping of my ballot was a simple walk across the lobby.
Two tasks done with friendly service and a...
