I’m not Korean, but my first try of kimbap was so delicious that I’ve been looking for a good one ever since. A few Korean friends recommended Jungwon Market—and it has become my go-to spot for kimbap ever since.

Their kimbap is made fresh after each order, so I recommend calling ahead. I’ve tried all four flavors—vegetarian, spam, bulgogi, and tuna. Surprisingly, spam is my favorite, even though I don’t usually eat spam. This is the only dish where I gladly make an exception! Each roll is packed with well-balanced, flavorful layers.

What an absolute DELIGHT!! After seeing the Chow Down Detroit guy's post, we had to come and see for ourselves. We were not disappointed!! The market itself is perfect for all your Korean cooking needs...and the coolers full of homemade dumplings, soups, banchan, kimchis... We dined at one of the 2 tables- we had beef and kimchi dumplings, japchae, beef bulgogi kimbap, and pan fried mackerel with rice. We loved every bite, and already cannot wait to return!! I'm pretty sure the metal pots with random food in them is some sort of health violation in a store. The refrigerated section has about 3-4 doors of products then the last few are full of what looks to be opened food or something raw inside kitchen pots. This worried me a little and deterred me from purchasing anything within them as they were all connected.

Staff was very pleasant but the store is a mess. They have an office set up in the middle of the refrigerated isle blocking a pathway. With some man behind it doing paperwork. I only came here for won ton wraps.
