Rawaa Street Sweets Baklava and Cakes — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

I have bought ready-made cakes from here before multiple times, but when I placed an order for a custom cake, I was very disappointed. I asked them to do a very simple design that any professional baker should be able to do, and I know this because baking is my hobby. I told them to design the cake like the picture attached shows but they said they couldn't do the dinosaur. I said ok, then leave the dinosaur and just do the vines. VINES?! How does a professional baker not know how to do vines. I have bought their ready made cakes before and they tasted and looked fantastic. There were all sorts of pretty roses and flowers on top of those cakes. But I really am surprised they couldn't do such a simple design. I told them I wanted the cake to be vanilla, but I have no idea what on Earth they gave me. It was brown and had a very weird and dense texture to it. It tasted like it was made from wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour. No one in my family was able to eat it. And I also attached a picture of how they made the cake. They couldn't even make it straight with white frosting, let alone anything else. The frosting was not white, the cake was not vanilla, the cake looked horrible, and it wasn't even on the sides, as they are bulging out. If you can see in the picture, I started adding little designs to it, as baking is my hobby, to at least make it look presentable. I also attached a picture of a cake I bought from them ready-made just a few weeks before I bought the custom cake. I will probably not be buying...

Unfortunately if I could give 0 stars then I would. We bought what we were told a gluten free cupcake from here. I shared with the cashier that the person who’s going to eat the cupcake has a severely fatal gluten allergy and was reassured that the cupcake was indeed gluten free and safe to eat. When my cousin (who has the gluten allergy) ate the cupcake at a birthday he was invited to, his face turned red, he became nauseous and vomited, and he started having trouble breathing. We had an epi pen and used it right away. He had to be rushed to the emergency room and stayed a night for treatment. After this occurred, my aunt spoke with the manager who not only did not apologize, but said that if someone has a severe gluten allergy, then they should make their dessert at home rather than buy from a store. My point in writing this review is to warn people to not purchase gluten free desserts from this place if they have a gluten allergy. I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone...

This is a hidden gem, Im suprised to see that there are less than one hundred reviews for this place. It was pure coincidence when I found this place in the summer but glad that I did. The waffles that they offer are warm and soft with plenty of toppings to choose from. They also have a wide variety of sweets in their showcases that are freshly made daily. The ice cream is nitrogen made and they have plenty of flavors to combine with your waffle. I hooked a lot of people to this place once I found it, its in a plaza and sometimes hard to see due to the construction that goes on surrounding it. The owner is friendly and the employees are welcoming always ready to serve you and your needs. They also have games you can play inside while you enjoy your dessert.
