They came very highly recommended by other momâs with children who are on the spectrum. My daughter is Autistic, less verbal, uses echolalia to communicate sometimes, & has sensory issues. The biggest sensory trigger is her mouth. So when I called to set up her appointment, I let the SUPER friendly receptionist know about my daughterâs sensitivities. She reassured me that everything was going to be fine and that they had little tips and tricks to get our girl through her first appt. I hung up feeling confident & actually excited for her appt. Her appt was Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The lobby is clean and tidy and we were greeted promptly. They have really awesome iPads for the kids to stay occupied on and my girl really loved it. I was even able to set her next appt while checking in. It really is a wonderful atmosphere. . . . . Until we crossed the threshold to go into the back. We were met by a woman (dental hygienist?) who had ZERO interest in wanting to even interact with my child. Absolutely cold. Robotic. And was inconvenienced by the fact we were there. She barked orders at both my daughter and I. âPut her down. She can stand. She needs to stand here.â She never introduced herself to us. Never talked nicely to my child. Didnât ask me anything about my child. Head over to the X-ray - barked at my child to âsit thereâ. She starts trying to stick those plastic pieces in my daughterâs mouth and demanding that she âbiteâ. Again, my 3.5 yr old has ZERO idea of whatâs happening and this STRANGER, who was so inconvenienced by our appointment, that she began to panic. That panic & someone shoving things into her mouth made her do the gag. The gag where itâs not a simple gag. The dry heaving that gets the juicy noise at the end. By this time I have explained to this person TWICE that my daughter has mouth sensitivities & that this was her first appointment. She proceeded to tell me to take my child to the exam room. . . . Meanwhile my child still had on the lead vest and she began to walk away. I took the vest off my child & I put the vest back on the wall myself. We were guided to the exam room and I was barked to lay my child back on a chair so she could have her teeth brushed. I was over it. I let this woman know AGAIN that my child has SEVERE mouth sensitivities and that drinking water can sometimes make her gag. I was met with, â So? You just donât brush her teeth? Really?â I was actually REMINDING HER that my child has mouth sensitivities since she apparently didnât hear me the first couple times that she barked at my child.
I. Was. Done.
I let her know that her service was not what I wanted for my child as it was less than professional, less than caring, and absolutely done with her repulsive treatment of my child.
The same woman led me back to the front and proceeded to speak to her coworkers, in Spanish, that I was âridiculousâ and I needed to cancel my daughterâs appts. Did your mother never teach you that when you speak, you should assume everyone can understand you? Because I sure did understand you and your choice words.
It wasnât until I was in the middle of canceling the appt (and asking for a sensory friendly office) that we were actually at and both my daughter and I were in tears that someone thought I might want to speak with the office manager/assistant manager. She was friendly, but basically disregarded what happened to my child. It wasnât until I let her know that I was calling AHCCCS to make sure the state wouldnât be billed for 2 X-rays and absolutely disgusting service, that she muttered out the most insincere âsorryâ.
My daughterâs appointment was at 9:00AM. I live out by Casino Del Sol. We were back home and I was on the phone with AHCCCS by 9:40.
If thatâs how their hygienists are comfortable âcaringâ for our less than verbal children, in the accompany of a parent, i canât imagine their treatment of our nonverbal kids and the parents that are too scared to say anything.
No one from their corporate has tried to contact me. No one from their office has tried...
Read moreTook my kids there once and won't be back. Not because of the Dentist but because of the front desk clerk. She was so rude for no reason. Took my kids in on a wed. Friday I called asking what the process for releaseing info to myself (the patients mother) is because the school was asking for a copy. Was told come in, show ID, sign a release and I can get a copy. When I got there I told the girl (with glasses who looks and acts like she is straight outta high school) I just called about getting a copy of my sons exam. form for his school. Apparently, there is more than one form and I was told I should have brought in the paper with the request so she knew which one I needed. Well this is exactly why I called first. So I asked if she could just give me the copy of what was in the file. Well that upset her lol so she told me we are busy and sign the paper and come back Monday. As she sits back in her chair, not looking busy. Turning a simple request into a 2 day project was the tipping point. I go back Monday to get the paper, this time I take her the request (which doesn't say any where on it to take the form to the dental office) and ask if this is the paper she needed to see and her response "I don't know, I think so. That's why we ask you to bring it in" and she turns away from me to help another person. um no, you didn't ask for it til I was there. I can't have a place this rude and inexperienced staff working with my kids. Especially if they recommend giving anesthesia to a 4 yr old. Seems like the only time they care to deal with anyone is if you have an appointment. The form she gave me was the correct form. The Dentist and Hygenist were all great. Sad when one person ruins it for everyone, my kids actually...
Read moreThe staff at this location is really there for their patients. My 8-year-old daughter had to get done PLENTY of dental work. Starting with crowns and extractions. I myself was concerned about the treatment she was going to receive, since most dentists tend to give attitude, even to kids with anxiety like my daughter. The first amazing thing a staff member did for me was to call me in case someone cancelled. She remembered and acted upon it. She gave me a call and were seen two hours before. Secondly, Norma, another staff member, was in charge of giving my tiny woman her dose to get sedated, she talked to my daughter in such a nice and sweet manner. She made my daughter feel at ease. Then it got to show time, we saw Dr. Aram, who was highly recommended by Argelia, another GREAT team member. Dr. Aram and his assistant Erika did EVERYTHING above and beyond to help Leah. Erika talked to my daughter explaining in a calm manner everything she was going to do. When my daughter seem anxious Erika would touch my daughterâs forehead to give her support. Who doesn't appreciate that !?? Dr. Aram has angel hands, he is so tender,it is visible he loves his job and cares about his patients. Dr. Aram made this whole experience with crowns and extractions a good one for my tiny woman. I recommend this team to anyone looking for a dentist that will take into account the customer needs and well-being. Five stars make no justice. Thank you Argelia, Norma, Erika and...
