I only lived here for a semester, I would say it's a vast improvement over the dorms but that's about it.
My number 1 issue with this place is my room's window faces into an internal hallway. So despite having a window that takes up 2/3rds of a wall, no sunlight ever comes in. This isn't an issue on every room but I know I'm not the only resident who has this issue.
Currently it's summer and even with the AC blasting and two fans on it's still a bit warm.
During my stay there was about five separate occasions that there was no water / no hot water. With the shortest period being an hour or two and the longest being several days where I had to shower at the northrec gym.
The maintenance guy is really nice and always accomplishes requests thoroughly and quickly. Our dishwasher hadn't been used in a while so I put in a request for the next day. He said he'd need to order a part, a week later he's installing an entirely new dishwasher free of charge.
Paying for laundry kinda sucks, $1.75 doesn't sounds like a lot per load but they're small machines and $7 a week adds up pretty quickly. That being said I never had a major issue finding a time to do laundry, despite there only being four machines for the entire R building.
Sharing a fridge/freezer with two strangers is kinda wack. I would highly recommend getting a mini fridge/freezer. It will inevitably not be split 3 or 4 ways evenly depending on how many roommates you have. There is a lot of cabinet space for food storage.
TL;DR: It beats living a 30 minute drive away...
Read moreThere are so many reasons, I highly recommend not to rent from this company. Firstly, although their lease states that the deposit may be used as a cleaning fee if necessary, what they actually mean is that they will charge you $65 to clean your apartment when you move out whether your apartment is cleaner, then you moved in or not. My daughter left this apartment extremely clean, even though it was given to her dirty. After speaking to the manager of this facility, he advised me that it’s extremely rare to ever get your deposit back. They also tried to charge her a painting fee, even even though her room was not painted prior to move. We were able to get that fee reversed, at least they stated they are sending that portion back.
While living on this property, the pool was always dirty, the TV that is in all the advertisement photos next to the pool was broken and missing. The lights in the hall in the covered area while walking to your bedroom door, we’re never replaced. When monsoon season came, water leaked through the doors and windows on the second floor into the apartment. The security cameras outside the apartments facing the parking lot do not work, so when my daughter’s car was broken into in the middle of the night there was no evidence for the police to look at. Their maintenance does questionable work, I am not even convinced some of these people are qualified to handle electrical work.
Save your money and live in a safer nicer apartment, this one isn’t...
Read moreDo not rent here. The worst place you could possibly rent from. They WILL attempt to keep your entire deposit, claiming damages that were already there. The AC WILL be out of order at the hottest time of the year, and the hot water will not exist for weeks while they claim they are waiting for parts. Other times, the water will come out of the faucet grey. Your bike will be stolen if you park it locked in the enclosed area. Also, it is unsafe. My daughters roommate opened her door one morning (her door opens to the inner courtyard) to find police tape all over it with splattered blood and an officer saying "something bad happened here". She asked the management about this, they said they don't know a thing. When you move in the apartment will be filthy!!! The old tenant left a dishwasher full of moldy dishes, it was the grossest thing! They never change the gate code they plaster on the outside of the building move in day (perhaps this is how the bike thief's and stabbers get in). They "say" there are security cameras, lol. They certainly don't point at the bike rack, or the blood stained inner area where crimes have occurred. Also, 2 months after signing your lease they will want you to re-sign for the next upcoming year. Don't do it! You will regret it. At least we didn't do that, found much better...
