This place was definitely a first apartment, and there were a lot of issues that our apartment and many other residents had. Majority of the 5 star reviews are when they offer points or giveaways for giving them a review. So let’s begin. As a lot of other reviews say on here, we had A LOT of issues with the property manager. We were fined 500 dollars EACH for having a dog that we didn’t own, and when my roomate went to tell them we didn’t own a dog their response was “we’ve seen you walking it”. Like what? It’s just actual gaslighting. Then we were later fined for the trash being outside of our apartment. We were a little confused because the fine came at the end of the year so randomly, and we had just been doing what the other apartments had. We were told that we had made multiple violations, however on our end we were never given a warning or any sort of just quick reminder. If we were given one, we would have swiftly fixed the issue. Like I said, we were fined after 9 months in this place doing the same routine as everyone else. At the beginning of the second semester we had the first floor apartment come knock and ask if we ever filed a complaint against them. We were confused and told them no and asked them why they thought that. They had been fined a noise complaint from the property manager and were told that we were the ones that complained, but it just simply wasn’t true. We have had a copious amount of shady experiences that definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. The student staff are amazing and friendly, I just think Samantha (the property manager) really really did not like us. To be fair, we started having issues with her from the very beginning at the beginning of the year with stolen packages and she yelled at us. We were having our own conversation when she started screaming at us complaining about the stolen packages in our own PRIVATE conversation. Just be aware that there was a huge package problem that many residents had. Samantha has a big job, I can not imagine it is easy with a bunch of young tenants, however, I also think that there are certain ways that an adult manager should compose themselves to be the most professional. I mean getting into a screaming match with your residents is just not professional, but we are all human and I can imagine her job can be frustrating. She had it out for one of my roommates specifically all year because we felt as though after one incident, Samantha purposefully tried to make our lives more difficult, even not answering emails when my roomate had issues with paying rent through the portal because it wasn’t working. The apartments on the second floor are infested with rolly-pollies, while harmless, it is still pretty disgusting. We are a really clean group of girls, and they were EVERYWHERE in the apartment. The maintenance crew is super nice and overall hub on speedway is one of the cheapest high-rise options, so you get what you pay for. After all it is still luxury apartment living. I just wanted to leave an honest review and let people know our experience. Also, someones apartment flooded at the beginning...
Read moreDO NOT LIVE HERE. Wow where do I even begin with this place. (Signed a lease for 2021-2022) The package system wasn't set up for 2 months and multiple of my packages were stolen and when I brought this us to management they said it was out of their control. The front office closed early multiple times with no notice and I was unable to get packages or go complain about everything that was wrong with my unit. There was no hot water for weeks and during the winter time... when the water was turned off at one point they disconnected the phones so you couldn't call and complain or even figure out what was wrong. There is no gate on the parking garage so multiple times people would park in my parking spot or even block me in. (mind you I paid $75 a month for parking). Almost everything in my unit was broken upon move in, the washer flooded our apartment the first night, my fan and bedroom light were broken and my shower wouldn't drain causing my room to be covered in water. The elevator never worked and multiple times dropped with me and my roommates inside. Was threatened multiple times that we would be fined $500 for our balcony being "dirty" (referring to the birthday decorations from my roommates 21st birthday that were there for less than a week). We were egged multiple times and the management never did anything about it so our balcony smelled like rotten eggs. The final straw with this place was when I was moving out.. I called the office telling them I had to drive my parents car in order to move all my stuff out. and THEY TOWED IT. mind you I pay for a parking spot and informed them it would be a different car. AND they have haven't reimbursed me the $250 towing fee. Instead they changed me for move out fees. Long story short DO...
Read moreHub Speedway is a pretty decent place to live. That being said it’s like all of the apartments next to the school in that they are way overpriced for what you are getting.
Most of the floorplans are terribly laid out and not designed with any kind of functionality in mind.
The building advertises a “Private Outdoor Terrace” for some floorplans which is both not private and not outdoors. For some reason, they thought a 5-foot tall fence that has holes in it is private. In addition to that, those private terraces lead directly into kitchen and living room areas, so all of the shared spaces in those areas are completely exposed to people passing by.
Most of the bedroom windows face inward, towards a walkway. So you’ll likely never have your shades open in your room because people walk directly past where you sleep.
On the bright side, the staff that work here are super friendly. Their maintenance workers are top-notch and genuinely do want to help you. All of our requests were addressed, although, there’s not a lot you can do to fix the privacy issue of an apartment that completely faces a walkway.
We’ve met with the management of the building a few times trying to address the issue of privacy and haven’t seen any results. They have remained professional and very friendly with us though which has kept me from writing a more negative review.
The lobby is pretty well done, and so is the pool.
Overall, I would recommend you live at a different hub property, or if you do decide to live here, choose carefully which floorplan you get, some of them are...
