Gadget Fix — Local services in Tukwila

I own a Dell inspiron 15 laptop that I purchased from Costco in 2012. In late 2018 I started having problems with the laptop’s screen so I took it to the GadgetFix in Gig Harbor, WA (which has since gone out of business) to fix the screen problems. They replaced the screen but the laptop continued to have performance issues (i.e., it consistently ran very slow). A couple of days ago I took my laptop to a trusted IT friend who, after running some tests determined that the original mechanical hard drive was worn out and needed to be replaced. He also found that my laptop only had 6GB of RAM, which I found strange since the machine came with 8GB of ram installed by Dell when it was new. After my friend opened up the laptop’s case, he found that the hard drive was not properly attached to the case with screws AND that the RAM sticks were mismatched in that there was one 4GB stick along with a second 2GB stick that were manufactured by two different companies. My friend told me that this mismatch is not something Dell would ever do and that they would also not ship a unit with an unsecured hard drive. Although I have no proof, it appears that someone at the now defunct Gig Harbor GadgetFix is who not only failed to reattach the hard drive properly but also switched out one of my original 4GB RAM sticks with cheaper 2GB RAM stick from a different manufacturer. Needless to say, I will never use GadgetFix again because who knows how many times they have done something like this...

DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS. We took 2 phones to them in early December. For weeks this guy claimed he was fixing our phones. We called him over and over and he was not able to fix our phones but kept lying about it. We went to retrieve our phones and he claimed they were packed in a box and to come back in a couple days. When we returned he claimed Oh, I'll have it by 3:30. We returned again and this time he tells us he lost it, he can't find our phone. This was our 5th trip to this store. We have filed a claim with the BBB and a theft report with the Police. He then tries to text us and says did we threaten him, unbelievable. This was my son in laws phone who is from a poor country and we were trying to get it fixed and this guy took it. It's sad how low some people are willing to sink to make a buck. We took this same phone to UBREAKIFIX and they were honest enough to say they couldnt fix it and held on to it for a long time until we came to get it. Take your phones there. Had to take my PlayStation 5 apart 3 times!!!and the second time he rushed me out the door and my ps5 was missing bolts and rattling as I walked out the door and then he had to re open it again and check his work in front of me while dropping bolts out of there holes when he was shaking my ps5 checking the noise all while using a impact gun to strip bolts out right in front of me .. all because he rushed my HDMI replacement, mind you he told me he was gonna look over everything and the traces the port connects to the first time he took my ps5 apart! got my ps5 home and the same thing was happening. I took it then for the second time he claimed my board was slightly bent and my trace was lose connecting to my hdmi port after he worked on it.
