We picked dinner as we wanted to have Biryani. Veg Biryani is not in Menu so the guy at counter said he can get it, I asked for Paneer Biryani he said he can customize it. Now the thing is if I literally talk about Veg Paneer Biryani it’s nothing like a Biryani. It’s more like Spicy Rice in name of Biryani. In name of Paneer there were only 2-3 way smaller pieces. And just lots of chilly added, no taste of biryani. Apart from that the funny thing I noticed is they added Zucchini in it. Not sure from when Zucchini became part of Indian food as u can see in the picture clearly. 2nd biryani was goat, same feedback that biryani was only spicy, no flavor of authentic biryani. Didn’t find it was worth it to spend $45 behind 2 awful biryani. As I do remember the guy at the counter who’s sweet saying they have veg pulao. I think they gave me Veg pulao with lots of spice in name of biryani.
Staff is good but I’m sorry not worth the money and considering it’s less than 5 months old restaurant, they really need to work on their taste. No doubt quantity is good hence I’m carrying next day as lunch in my office lunch.
Edit: I would like to add normally we end up going to majority positive reviews that’s what even we did plus it was already 9:30 so at that time we didn’t have much options. Also, I was going through recent reviews which is mostly posted by Non Indian. Now the thing is Indian’s definitely know authenticity of taste as we have tried it ample of times however when you give same to someone who’s not Indian, they might love it. Management team : I’m sure you guys would be great in other items but you guys really need to improve big time when it comes to Biryani’s as you guys having a restaurant can’t mess up...
Read moreJanoon serves the best Indian food I’ve ever had, hands down. My family and I are regulars, and we’ve sampled most of the menu. My personal favorites are the Lamb Curry, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka, and, of course, the fresh naan!
Now for the downsides: They’re closed on Tuesdays, likely because it’s a family-run operation. Occasionally, there’s a bit of a language barrier with the staff, but we always manage to communicate just fine. The service isn’t five-star, but they do their best. The location is in an office park, so the dining area isn’t the most comfortable or inviting due to the limited space.
But here’s the good: The food more than makes up for any shortcomings. It’s so good, you’ll forget all about the minor issues. The staff is incredibly sweet, and the space is always clean and well-maintained. I find myself needing to eat here at least once a month, or I genuinely miss it. My adult kids order from here twice a week! If you think you’ve had Indian food before, think again. My son’s girlfriend, who comes from an Indian family, says, “This is as authentic as my grandmother’s cooking, and hands down the best in Seattle.” A friend of mine even needed a cigarette after eating here—it’s that good.
My suggestions for the owners: Never change the food or your recipes. But consider finding an investor or securing a loan to relocate to a place like Kent Station or Southcenter. Add booths, tables, and decor, and hire some top-notch waitstaff and front-of-house management. With food this amazing, paired with a more polished atmosphere, you’d be packed 24/7. I have no doubt that Janoon could become a multi-location success, and it’s already my all-time favorite...
Read moreGreat atmosphere, clean space, and amazing food! The waitress who sat us was the only person working the front of the restaurant when we came for dinner. She was efficient, but not chatty or overly nice likely due to a number of responsibilities in her role as the solo person in front, and I was not upset with that at all. She was thorough, patient, and accommodating overall.
I ordered the samosas for my appetizer, chicken korma (medium spice level) for dinner, and the spicy & goat cheese stuffed naan. The samosas were hot and crispy with a great filling to wrapper ratio and the best tamarind and mint chutney I have ever experienced for dipping. The chicken korma was piping hot, well balanced with flavor, richness, and a level of heat that did not overwhelm or fall short. I was blown away at how deliciously rich and tasty it was! The naan was deliciously brushed with butter, crispy on the outside and evenly stuffed on the inside to enjoy the spinach and goat cheese in every bite. I thoroughly enjoyed the naan and the fact that it was not overly charred or thin and lacking in flavor on the edges like other Indian restaurants sometimes serve.
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and will definitely...
