Awesome, genuine church for families, singles, & a place of safe, supported restoration. Pastors know their flock by face & name. Not a traditional Baptist church. Contemporary & a little bit of something for everyone. Singles feel welcomed, valued, right at home. Pastors really go out of their way investing in the flock.
If attending Sun school, the foyer is set up to welcome anyone with free fresh hot coffee, other beverages for kids & adults besides, doughnut holes.
Diverse demographics. Active seniors as well. Warm weather special events include free food, blow up and bouncy activity novelties for kids. Everyone is special & precious. On Mothers & Fathers day, no one is left out. Each man or woman attending will receive a nice gift.
Sister church is Antioch in North Tulsa. Pastors listen, respond, & act when facing challenges.
Very comfortable, casual atmosphere. Some people dress up, others come in knit tops and shorts in the summer. The important thing is that you're there! God has no dress code.
Have adult programs offering relevant help no other church in Tulsa offers. Many people participate in these programs from other churches.
Not remotely like the big, corporate, for profit churches Very outreach oriented. I've been a member for 3 years..
They also have a free church van to ensure those who want to attend on Sunday mornings will have the needed...
Read moreI just wanted to say this. I'm sure this is a wonderful church. However your security guard is lacking in something that hopefully people from or not from your congregation has. That is a heart and human decency. I left a 1 star because of him. I was driving around helping my neighbor look for her son who wandered off and he has autism. I simply pulled up to the front and was going to ask someone to ask people to keep an eye out for him when they got out of service. He told me I couldn't park there and I understand why. On the other hand I explained that I wasn't staying and what was happening . He then told me I had to leave. I tried to give him a description after he condescendingly talked down to me. Thankfully a very NICE woman took the time to hear me out and said she would help. But, that smug grin he had sitting on his shiny white high horse wasn't very "Christian" It wouldn't have hurt anything to help and not say to me "church is out around 8-9 so it won't...
Read moreThis church has changed my life So many wonderful and welcoming people. Unfortunately Ive been to some churches that I felt out of place , judged and found it hard to get plugged in. This church greets you with open arms ,welcomes you just as you are , and makes you feel like your not the only one journeying to a better YOU. Jesus is love , he is full of Mercy and grace, that's what a church and ministry should embody and at Southern hills Baptist I finally feel like I belong. I feel supported by people who have been where I am and speak their testimony's fearlessly and courageously. This is what a church should be and even though I reluctantly attended,it was the best decision I...
