My most recent experience with this office was the most negative I have ever had. It took 3 weeks to get a prescription for my son's ADHD medication (still don't have it though). Getting a return call from this office does NOT happen. My recent experience went like this: called pharmacy on 1/20 (about a week before my son was out of meds) to get a refill. By Monday, 1/24 still no response from pharmacy about refill. Called them and they had not heard from doctor's office. I started calling the dr. office on 1/24 as did the pharmacy. After daily phone calls to the doctor's office, finally, on 1/27 I was told that since my son had not been in since August of 2020 they would not refill script without an appointment first. Ok, no problem. Made appointment for 1/31 (Monday). I unfortunately got Covid during this ordeal and my mother had to take my son to the appointment. She said she asked the doctor before she left if Rx had been sent to pharmacy. She was told it had. Called pharmacy that afternoon. No Rx had been sent. Called the next day, and the next, and the next. Finally on that Thursday (2/3), I was told that the Rx had finally made it over, however, since we had new insurance, they couldn't fill it until they got a prior authorization from the insurance company, and this gets submitted by the doctors office. I called the doctor's office to make sure this was being done. I was told a message was sent to doctor's nurse. Today is 2/8 and still waiting to get my son's medication. My son asks me daily if I have his medication yet as he is struggling to focus in school. I am at my wits end with this office. I understand offices are busy, but seriously, this is...
Read moreDr. Austin is amazing. He’s very attentive, understanding, doesn’t brush you off and takes time with you in the room. We had countless others brush my sons sickness off as a “virus” for months. Dr. Austin saw him ONCE when his normal pediatrician was out and knew something was wrong. We were referred out to pulmonary & my son was diagnosed with asthma at 7 months old. If it wasn’t for his help- my son would still be struggling. We switched to him as our primary and we are so thankful for him & his...
Read moreYou were a great pediatrician for Scotty. I disagree with your statement on your bio: Michael Austin, MD, is a pediatrician at UT Health East Texas Physicians on Fifth Street in Tyler. He believes you must be a counselor, advocate and listener in order to be a successful pediatrician. "Much of what we do in pediatrics is not really related to acute health issues. You were a great pediatrician for Scotty and he always had acute medical issues. You always listened...
