I hate leaving bad reviews. Truly. I go out of my way to leave good ones, but this isn’t it. We’ve eaten here before, at other locations that have since closed. Nonetheless, we were craving this type of food - fried seafood. We ordered via DoorDash. I’ve stewed for days. I wanted to just get over it but I can’t. I’m still mad. My husband in particular wanted fried catfish, I was hoping to not need to make dinner, so we decided to order from here. I was so excited. He asked if I wanted to share… the admiral, I think it’s called. We looked through the options. I said I’m down for that - all I really want is fried okra - but seafood-wise, I could go for some fried shrimp. When you order “the admiral” there is ONE side option. We selected fried okra. There was a crawfish option, we selected to substitute it for more fried shrimp. Ultimately we ended up neither: their standard fries as the side, and the crawfish was not replaced with shrimp.
I wanted 2 things. Fried okra, and fried shrimp. I was pretty furious, selfishly, but, it’s what I ordered, and it was wrong. What came to mind the most is… in a time like this, where the economy is rough and businesses, especially food businesses, are closing left and right, wouldn’t you want to do your ALL to make sure that if nothing else, you get your digital, automated orders, CORRECT. We did the standard; go thru door dash, let them know your order isn’t right, get a partial refund. Because there’s a 50/50 chance that if we used the “reorder” option, it would be wrong again. No reason for it to be wrong in the first place. All that to say, I’ll not be spending another dollar here. If the service provided is black and white, and it’s wrong, there’s just no...
Read moreI finally made my way over to The Catch and I’m kicking myself once again for waiting so long to try another gem in East Texas.
I had a craving for some catfish with some tartar sauce and a little bit of hot sauce (something I recently started doing) and that’s when I realized I’ve never tried The Catch.
I ordered the shrimp and catfish combo and I got red beans and rice instead of fries. I chose the regular portion that came with 3 strips and 3 shrimp. I asked for 1 of each sauce and made my way over to a table.
Within 10 minutes or less, a gentleman was bringing me out my food. I could tell right away that I was about to be eating good.
One thing I noticed was the variety of sauces and even some seasonings at each table. The little packets of Texas Pete caught my eye for some reason, so I figured I’d give those a shot.
For my first bite of fish, I dipped it in some tartar sauce and drizzled a bit of that hot sauce (not even remotely hot) on it. My eyes bout rolled in the back of my head. It was heaven in the form of a fried piece of fish. I immediately tried the shrimp next. I dipped it in some of their remoulade sauce and went in for a bite. Once again, heaven. The shrimp was succulent and perfectly cooked. The batter was seasoned quite well and had a nice crunch to it.
I saved the red beans and rice for last. I had to add a little salt and pepper, but I really enjoyed them.
The service was phenomenal, seeing as multiple people checked on me while I was eating and the entire restaurant seemed very well kept.
This is definitely a place that I can highly...
Read moreI have never had any issues with ordering take out, but last Friday I had ordered on the app for pickup. Made it to the restaurant in about 30 mins. Gave the cashier my name and told him it was an app order for pickup. It was super busy and overcrowded and you could tell the staff was definitely overwhelmed. Waited 30-40 mins, watched everyone that was there before me get their food and dine in or leave. Again, I asked if my order would be ready soon, the worker told me they would check. I saw them ask others and then I never heard anything. Another 30 mins goes by and I ask again if it was ready. Finally, the manager told me that they missed my order somehow and asked if I'd like a refund. So, I left with no food after waiting over an hour. I called the next day to see when my refund would be back on my card. The manager gave me a number to the third party from the app service, I call them and they tell me that their number is only for restaurants not customers and I should talk to the restaurant. But he was nice enough to tell me it'll take 7 to 10 business days to see my refund. So,my husband and I thought we would give it another chance and order food from The Catch again on Sunday evening but order over the phone and pay cash at pickup. I call, they answer and sounded very busy again, put on hold for 12 mins. So we finally gave up. We really enjoy the food. And I never have an issue at lunch time. They desperately need more help and a bigger kitchen...
