Without any doubt - Aldi is one of the better grocery chain stores, as compared to others, out here in Des Moines. Price, Quality, Good produce, Neatly stocked shelves, clean stores - no one can beat these. And the staff at Aldi - they are damn quick at Check out. Here, I would like to take a moment to give a Shout out to Jacob (Manager) and a couple other staff members (My apologies for not asking for their names, one might be Shirley, in case if I have spelt it right). Just like several others, I was stuck up in this "Bomb Cyclone" last week. My car wouldn't start, battery had died. I had requested my Insurance for a Jump Start, but my Roadside Provider was 45 minutes away from this location. Usually, Aldi closes at 8pm, but, on that day, due to Blizzard conditions, they were closing at 6pm. And to add to my woes, my Phone had just 1% charge left. Seeing my worried condition, one of the staff members lent me her Powerbank so that I can recharge my phone. Very kind of her. And, then, Jacob walked over to me and very patiently heard my condition. Even though they close at 6pm, he was kind enough to allow me to stay inside the store for few extra minutes, so that I could avoid waiting outside in the freezing cold. By the time, it was time for the Store closure, my Roadside provider had arrived. After my car was fixed, Jacob, who had stepped out to his car after closing the stores, drove towards me to ensure that the car was working fine and that I was good to go.
This is the kind of attitude and humanity that everyone should imbibe. Thanks Jacob for your warmth and kindness. Glad to see that we've such good people around us. Thanks to the other 2 staff members for helping me out. Appreciate...
Read moreI visited the store today 6/22/2022 about 5ish after work. Picked up a few items to cook breakfast for my hubby when he comes home from work in the morning. I checked out with Katie ( Cashier) and I paid with cash and she dropped my change in my hand where some of the change dropped to the floor , so I asked her politely why she couldn't have put the change in my hand and she rudely moved the cart so that I could pick it up. I was the only black person in the store and also in line. The customer behind me which was an older white lady about my age in her 50's seen how discouraged I was stopped me to say for me to report Katie's behavior because she felt it wasn't right at all. I asked for her to get the manager which was Ronda in which didn't act as though she was concerned with the cashier's behavior so I asked for the corporate office number. Ronda said she will talk to Katie later and no apologies given. I have been in Iowa 52 plus years and visited several stores and very shocked that I had this experience and while I was talking to Ronda as Katie was checking other customers out and she kept looking over towards me when I was talking to mgr rolling her eyes. I mentioned to Ronda what she was doing and Ronda just brushed it off. This is very sickening and disturbing that Aldi's would have this kind of person working in their establishment. I am going to take this matter as far as I can and make sure that the public knows that this behavior exist within our community. This isn't a world for just whites and the sooner the ppl of this world realize this it will be a much better...
Read moreI’m glad I discovered this grocery store! It’s become my place to pick up regular items. The store clerks are nice and helpful, though keep in mind Aldi keeps them hopping, so they can seem preoccupied. The store is always clean and the prices are truly lower than other grocery stores. Late afternoons can be VERY busy and they may run out of things that are on special (but they’ll usually get more on the next truck). ok, things that are great here...nuts are high quality and the best price I’ve found (big container of super fresh cashews are less expensive than Costco)...take and bake pizzas... the Aldi brand and other European CHOCOLATE!!! Wow!...great wine and beer selection... coffee....I really like the gluten free pasta and wraps...fun cheeses...fresh chicken... their ice cream...salad greens...the last bag of grapefruit I bought was delish! 98% of the time the produce is high quality, tasty and consistently the best price. The other 2% is when they get a big batch of something like strawberries or grapes that are not up to par. You have to look through too many bags or containers to find good ones. BUT! They have a good return policy and you can trade out for another batch. This rarely happens but thought it was important to mention. Sign up to get their weekly ad in your email as the specials are GREAT especially for things that are in season. Bring a quarter for the cart use and your own bags. They have empty boxes and you can buy bags there. Did I mention their...
