At first it seemed like they were friendly and trustworthy, but what came from a simple request to solve an issue on my appliance resulted in them gaslighting me and trying to rip me off for a fixture on something that costed way less when it was first bought. The owner was awful with stating the process of the washer getting fixed because he twisted his words and said things that were not true the last time I called to what he told me when I first contacted them about my issue. He told me the specifics (pricing, time to get my washer fixed, what needed to be fixed) on the phone, but then I was told differently when I brought in my washer and talked about the problem. He said the price was a specific cost the first time, and then I was told it was triple the first price told days later. The owner said it would take only an hour and could be picked the same day, yet I waited much longer for them just to call back and confirm if I wanted to get that done. He wasn't even at the store when I brought in the washer and wanted him to see it; I mentioned the day I was coming over to drop the washer off in advance. The owner's communication/professionalism was terrible, as he additionally doesn't back up his products even though I only had my washer for a year, and his attitude was petty and disrespectful. From the amount of time that was spent on our end to disassemble and bring the washer just to be told other things, make us pay morefor a used product, and respond to me with the response that it's not our fault but also not their fault is insulting. It was ridiculous when thinking that this kind of problem could've been noticed and turned out differently had people been straight to the point with everything without lying, had been there to actually check out the washer, and had better attitudes while treating their products with better care and respect. That isn't the case for the owner at this store and because of this miscommunication, it made this a completely fustrating, negative experience. It's a waste to get any appliances from their store and I wouldn't refer...
Read moreWhat an awesome experience. This morning, I had a local repair company out to troubleshoot my washer (3 years old). After about 10-15 minutes, the tech told me the transmission was bad and it would be best just to replace the machine. After looking online at new $900 washers, I decided to verify for myself it was bad. Starting with the cheapest and easiest part to fix, I called Affordable Appliances and Parts. They had the part I requested in stock. I drove to Valparaiso, picked up the part and paid. Before I left, the owners son came from out back and asked me what my machine was doing. After I explained the symptoms, he took me in back and showed me possible causes and their replacement parts. One was a simple teflon spline that attaches to the metal spline on the transmission. Easily accessible and held on by six screws. I went home and sure enough, the part was worn flat. I changed out this new part for a total cost of $26. Before leaving, the owner showed me how to reset my washer after the repair. Something that should be done on a high efficiency washer every two months or more to extend its life. I did not know this. These gentlemen went above and beyond to help me. I cannot recommend them enough. I have found a new place to get any future parts....
Read moreTaylor and his employees go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to A+ customer service. I purchased my Whirpool washer in March just after the Pandemic hit. It has been a great washer, but the agitator started running a bit rough. I called Taylor at Affordable Appliances, and he explained in simple terms, that it was probably an easy fix, involving replacing the dogs inside the agitator. He understood my financial situation, and that I shouldn’t have to spend money on an expensive repair. He assured me I could probably fix this myself. I was able to do so for the most part, I purchased the package of plastic dog pieces at Affordable Appliances for a minimal charge; then he walked me through the directions for installation. After several attempts, shared photos, some frustrating phone calls, and with his kind patience and supervision, together and with the help of his employees too we were able to get my washer up and running once again. What sweet relief! I highly recommend this business to everyone who is looking for good used appliances. Thank you, Taylor! You were...
