King Gyros — Restaurant in Valparaiso

Our family has made it a tradition, for almost 25 years, to order ribs on Christmas Eve from King Gyros. It all started in Dec. 1995, when after Christmas Eve mass we arrived at my grandma's house to find that she had accidentally burned the traditional ham, we'd use to have at my grandparents house since my sister and I were about 6 and 3 years old.

This particular Christmas Eve, my Grandma was on her own for the first time with the passing of my grandpa in March, so we threw out the ham, scrambled to find a carry-out place close to her house in Merrillville. We came up with King Nixkys Gyros on 55th Ave, and Broadway. Ever since then we've had the same great ribs from the Valpo location every year, as a not-so-traditional, but very delicious Christmas Eve treat. I think the only other customers who order from their on this day are Police Officers and other emergency responders who eat out at the BEST place open...

I am always impressed with this place! It is my favorite place to get a Gyro. They give you a lot for your money! If anyone looks online for their menu, it is wrong. The prices are off by a lottle bit, so don't be discouraged. I work at a nursing home and we do a carry in once a week for some of the residents. Last week we decided to go to King Gyros. One of my residents mentioned that they do calling ahead, so I did. The lady who took my phone order that was also the cashier did an outstanding job. She was very patient and took the correct orders. She read then back and had every seperate meal seperated by name. I went in and had to pay seperate orders but she did them in order as I did when I called. She reassured me that she has other people that do this too and she knows how to keep it as easy as possible-well, she did! Not one...

Good food, reasonably prices and fast. I really enjoy going here. My husband and I were on our way to meet the moving van and needed something to eat. Got two gyros and some fries and really enjoyed them. They recommended their baklava and of course had to try it so we added that. All was good. Said was working on being thrifty since we we moving into our new home close by and would be back.They recommended their Gyro platter.

Have been back twice for their Gyro platter. It is enough for three. Great Value!

They have tones of stuff on their menu hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken strips, BBQ, tamales, subs, ribs, fried fish, italian beef, salads.... so there is something for just about everyone....
