Legendary Games — Local services in Vancouver

This place is trash and super shady. Shop online or at other gaming stores.

I wanted to buy some new N64 controllers, so I called Legendary Games and asked if they had any in stock. They told me that they had some third-party controllers that work great, etc. (I'm not a huge gamer, so I'm trusting that these people are the "experts" - my mistake). To reassure me that I should buy some controllers from Legendary Games, the guy on the phone tells me "Come in, buy the controllers and if you don't like them or they're defective you have 90 days to return them." Gee! Sounds risk-free!

So I drive way out to Legendary Games and buy the 3rd-party N64 controllers. I try out the controllers with my friends and the controllers are terrible - just waaaaaay too sensitive. Completely unusable. I swear to god my friends were getting motion-sickness because their characters were swinging so far back-and-forth (we were playing "Goldeneye"). I know immediately that I'll have to return the controllers. I check the receipt and find out that all I can get is store credit, not a cash refund. The guy on the phone had completely (and I can safely say intentionally) mislead me.

Wanting to get my money back, I call Legendary Games already knowing that there's not a chance that they're gonna do right by me, but I figure I'll give it a try. I explain my whole story and the guy just says, "Yeah, well our return policy is right there on the receipt." Exactly. On the receipt. After the purchase has already been completed, leaving customers with no recourse other than some store credit to this dump. I pointed out that I had only bought the controllers because when I had initially called Legendary Games, I had been assured that I could bring my stuff back within 90 days if I wasn't satisfied. "Sorry, bud," was the guy's response. Nice.

I will never shop here again. You should avoid this place like the plague.

Stay away. You can't trust...

Walking into Legendary games was like walking into another world. A very happy a friendly world just for gamers. The man at the counter one of the owners was one of the nicest most knowledgeable associates I have ever had the pleasure to deal with.

I brought in several old school consoles to sell to him I wasn't expecting much and no he didn't take everything I had but he explains his reasoning rather then just saying no. He offered me either in store credit or cash. Not knowing I would stay yet I took the cash. Then I got a chance to look around.

I can't describe the multitude of games I saw. I could try but I would fail. They were also very fairly priced. Once he saw that I had a few games I wished to purchase he felt bad for not offering me the store credit and happily made me a deal to get the games for the cash he had given me.

My husband was looking at the PC games hopeful they had something he would be interested in playing. While they did not have his usual type the associate offered my husband a deal try this new one he'd sell it to us for 5 it was a deal and my husband is very eager to play it!

I have only one complaint...The store needs to be bigger!

I would readily go back again and again. True I didn't find all that I wanted, but that's because most games I look for are imports (like Koei's warriors series). If you ask for something then they will search for it themselves to see if they have it.

The people are nice and impressed me greatly. It was a slow day and I was the only person browsing. A friend of the owner's stopped by and they got into a fifteen minute or longer conversation about the best way to take down WoW raids.

Almost everything I have purchased from Legendary Games has worked. The only things that didn't were a single game and a memory card for my PS2. I went back and they replaced both. I'm a picky gamer. I spent twenty minutes browsing one day and the clerk asked if I needed help with something. I told him what I was searching for and not thirty seconds later he found three games that I was looking for and am still enjoying.

My only complaints are the organization of the store (the far games shelf is my bane), the size of it (they need a bigger location), and the clearance boxes. If they were to reorganize the store a bit then I would give them a 5, but for now...
