I loved going to the drive ins growing up. It had been years since I had been to one. I finally went to this one on 9-5-2024. I was very disappointed. The concession stand had only been open for thirty minutes and I went to get a couple hot dogs and was told they didn't have any so I ordered two hamburgers. On the site it said they would be serving their full menu but, didn't have any hot dogs. Employee gives me one hamburger and says the other one will be ready in six minutes. I told the employee never mind just give me my money back for the second one cause I didn't have time to wait because the movie had already started and I didn't want to miss anymore than I need too. The first movie was done and the half show came on for you to go to the restroom or concession stand. That little break used to be just for that reason but, the concession stand had already closed and we still had a whole other movie to watch. The first movie started at 9pm by 10:30pm the concession stand was already closed. I was thirsty and wanted to get something to drink and couldn't due to them closing just an hour after opening. I was very disappointed. Back when I was growing up the concession stand stayed open pretty much until the last movie was just about over. Now I know why people decide to bring their own snacks, food and drinks. I don't know how they are still in businesses when they are not making no money with the concession stand when they are not staying open like they should be. I am so disappointed with this drive in. I am happy to see that drive ins still exist but, the experience is definitely not like it used to be. The women's bathroom was not in good shape at all either. Only like five toilets out of like twelve. Two stalls had shower curtains as doors. Two stalls didn't even have a door or shower curtain for privacy and the fifth stall had a door but, no lock. Just overall rundown. The price to get in wasn't bad at all considering I got to watch two movies. I am disappointed with the rest of the situation. This place could definitely use an upgrade and the concession stand should be open all the way up until the last ten minutes of the last movie. Doesn't do any good to call them to get questions answered because nobody answers the phone no matter what time you call. Don't bother asking the employee taking payments because they don't know a damn thing. I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the bathroom cause I didn't bring my phone with me to take...
Read moreOnly giving 3 stars for nostalgia. I’ve been coming here for 30 years and still remember when it was amazing. The last 3 times we came people have lights on during the movie. Occasionally the remind people to turn off all lights but last night nothing. Some one in the front row had lights on the screen the first 45 minutes of a very dark movie so we couldn’t see half of what was happening. You had no problem interrupting the movie twice to announce that people were still watching the other screens movie and to keep lights off but not a single request for people to turn lights off on this screen.
Secondly- food has dramatically decreased in the last 2 years. It hasn’t been great for years but at least it was edible when you were cooking things as people ordered them. Cheese sticks can not be precooked and left to sit and become a sponge. Took a single bite and threw them away. Popcorn use to be great, one thing I always looked forward to. Now it’s also prepopped and sitting in bags. If your lucky and it’s busy they might be forced to make more in the middle of the movie. Hamburgers use to be a decent option for dinner, now gross premade frozen patties you precook and leave sitting in a warmer. I sincerely hope things change next summer or it might be...
Read moreGoing to the movie theater is always fun. But going to the drive-in is so much more fun. Being born in the late 70's I grew up with a drive-in. You knew it was summer when the family packed up for a fun night in the car at the drive-in. Dixie Twin brings back great memories for me. Plus it's an experience that I can share with my family. We get to talk and discuss things as it happens in the movie. Its comfortable being able to stretch out in your car. Or sitting in your favorite outdoor chair. Not having to walk in front of people trying to go get more drinks from the snack stand or go to the bathroom is great. The price is amazing. For 5 people to watch two movies was way cheaper then going to the regular theater. Sure you might have to put up with some heat or bugs. But you prepare for that with a cooler full of cold drinks and fruit. Carry citronella candles or bug spray. If you get tired you can fall asleep and know that no one knows lol. I enjoy sharing the experience not just with family but friends as well. Thank you Dixie Twin for the great memories and movies. You provide a truly last and great impression that only drive-in theaters can provide. It is a treat and an honor to still be able to enjoy life many small but...
