7/12/25 Great to return to this Eithiopian oasis of delicious food in Dayton! As always, gracious, efficient service and delicious food was found in this comfortable restaurant with great accompanying Eithiopian music. The jebena coffee service is a perfect way to end the meal!
4/24/25 Can't believe it's been a year since I had Nanyea Eithiopian cuisine! So awesome. So delicious. Tofu tibs fantastic. Injera firfir excellent flavor. Great vegan feast!! See photos including menu. Wish I ived closer..... Can't wait to return!
4/7/24 On the eve of the Solar Eclipse! Back again for more takeout....love this place! Great music. Great atmosphere. But especially great food. Even when waiting for takeout to be prepared, I feel like I have been welcomed to Eithiopia!
10/21/23 Once again, a fantastic meal! Ful as an appetizer....fava beans mashed with tomatoes and jalapeños served with toasted pita bread. Kitfo...beef spiced with oregano, Dora wat...chicken butter stew, beef tibs, and a delicious vegetarian combo. Strong Jebena coffee for dessert served with frankincense incense all while listening to wonderful Eithiopian traditional music!
2/9/23 Back again for more of Nanyea's excellent cuisine! Remains a great welcoming 🙏 restaurant with excellent upbeat Eithiopian music which makes me smile. Outstanding prompt service. The vegetarian combo platter remains my favorite with cabbage/potatoes, yellow peas, red lentils, collards, and beet dishes all served on injera flat bread. Excellent meat dish options available as well. Come on by and enjoy a tasty relaxing meal.
3/1/22 Still awesome food, service, and music. Jebena coffee service delicious. Excellent vegetarian and vegan options
4/24/21 I am updating my post. Ate here today and again the food was delicious, the service welcoming and efficient, and the wait for meal very short. The delightful eithiopian music playing is so relaxing . Once again I wished I lived closer than 2.5 hours! A definite return is planned! Misir was awesome!
1/21/21 Back again... excellent veggie combo and tofu tibs to go... disappeared while sitting in car ...delicious as always! Thanks 😊
Original post 2019 What a great find! I LOVED the Eithiopian coffee with Jebena (which we had for dessert). Jebena is a delicious strong coffee served in little expresso cups with a side of burning incense-- the aroma of the incense mixed with the taste of the coffee was heavenly! What a treat! The meal was also delicious...my favorite is the vegetarian combination platter served with injera, the flat Eithiopian sourdough bread made with teff flour. Cozy and comfortable setting with great Eithiopian music playing. Wish I lived closer but this will be my go to place in...
Read moreWe 10/10 recommend this place if you are looking to explore a new restraunt in the Dayton area! The restraunt has a charming, cozy interior that also really contributes to the overall experience. This was the first time we've tried an Ethiopian cuisine, and this restraunt has definitely opened the door for our desire to try more than Ethiopian food! Everyone in the Dayton area should give this place a shot.
For the people interested in Ethiopian food who don't know much about it: we absolutely loved the Nanyea Platter, which was very different for us! The Injera is spongy flatbread-like and we used it to eat the "Tibs," which is a hybrid stir fry and stew with an unbelievable blend of Ethiopian spice. The platter came with multiple tibs to eat with the Injera: beef, chicken, and vegetables. You don't use utensils–the Injera is basically the utensil! This was unlike anything either of us have had in the past, but we absolutely loved it! The Sambusa for the appetizer was awesome too–inside was also spiced up with Ethiopian spices and mixed with lentils, jalapeño, and onion. For the last course, we ordered Ethiopian coffee serviced in a Jebena (a traditional Ethiopian coffee pot made from clay) which came with a cute coffee mug and incense.
We can't wait...
Read moreI was blown away at how wonderful the food was. This was my first time trying Ethiopian. I will warm that the food delightfully spiced.
My girlfriend treated me to my it. Our appetizer was injera that was soaked with butter that was infused with berbere- a nice rich spice blend with a heat that builds but is not too overwhelming if taken slowly. It was delicious.
For our main she ordered the Vegan Special (i think). It consisted of a variety of lentils, beats, cabbage, and tofu served separated on a large platter. You use the injera to scoop and eat it!🥰
Finishing off, we had a nice Ethiopian coffee. It had a nice rich flavor. I will admit that I do like a lot of surgar in my coffee.
It was a different kind of dining experience for me. If you are adventurous and wanting to try something different or are a vegetarian and want a place with options to then In recommend this place. I plan on going back again...
