Vandalia Locksmith — Local services in Vandalia

Totally disappointed although work was completed. I called Vandalia Locksmith to unlock my deadbolt to my basement and make a new key. That’s all. I was expecting the invoice to two or threee hundred dollars from my research on Google. The locksmith showed up in an older car. No identification. Just a drill in one hand, sweat pants and a hoodie. My wife and I were shocked at the total lack of professionalism and appearance. After about hour, most of it sitting inside his car, he brought my the bill. Even the invoice had no business identifiers. The generic invoice came to $960.00!!! I strongly protested the amount to him as he tried to explain all away. I am including a copy of the invoice. This happened this morning and I am still smoldering. Almost a thousand dollars for an hours work on one lock!! I feel totally ashamed for not calling the owner to complain. I have no proof that I did business with Vandalia Locksmith. WARNING: We had multiple issues with this company and the subcontractor they sent to our house, including but not limited to an incorrect door being drilled for a deadbolt. To his credit he did go out of his way to make the problem right and got the door replaced. Very classy move.

That being said this whole process was a huge headache for 2 weeks. Contractors are hired out to make issues go away not create more. Knowing what we know now we would have just bought the tools required and done it ourself.

P.S. The pricing for the work was outrageous. I understand this was not the call of the sub but jeez for the price we paid we should have...

Kinda sketch as they say “ vandalia locksmith” but invoice says “ Dayton locksmith”. The phone number listed isn’t the one on the invoice either so it’s making me wonder if these reviews are paid or negative ones removed. I’ve noticed my RPMs are higher than they were before so unsure if it’s the weather or coincidence that a new key would cause it (makes me think electrical). Nothing on van stated that it was a locksmith and tinted windows make me think it’s suspicious. No introduction was made either so proceed with caution.
