ALDI — Local services in Vernon Township

I must disagree with many of the reviews here. I am a man of principle, and honest. I find this store to be not so much. I'll give several examples. An item advertised on the entrance was listed as being on sale at .85c. When we checked out it rang up at $1.29. Here I must inject that you can't see the prices as they're rung up but my wife knowingly asked as the cashier was scanning. The cashier called the manager and was told the price was $1.29. I told her I didn't want the items. As we left I took a picture of the ad with my cell phone and took it to the cashier to show her, and the manager. I was asked if I wanted a refund, I said I didn't buy it for the above reasons, and I don't like being deceived, and won't shop at merchants that do so. Again you can't see what price an item is rung up at while the cashier is scanning, so you must be aware of what they were and check your receipt when packing your items. Some items are deceptively labeled. For example "Wild caught US salmon" that is prepacked. When you read the fine print on the labeling it says "Caught in the US and processed in China." That to me is deceptive. Some canned items that are normally packed in 16 oz. cans are actually 15.5 oz. That doesn't sound like much but when you consider that much of the content is water to begin with, the value is lower still. Update 5/29/23: This remains my go to grocery store. I love the opportunity to try new foods from other cultures at VERY reasonable prices while still saving on my go to favorites.

Update 11/2/22: I still do most of grocery shopping here. Employees have come and gone but all have been pleasant and helpful. I recommend this store to anyone and everyone!

Original review: This is my main grocery store... it's always clean and organized with well stocked shelves... the employees are always helpful and pleasant and they always open more registers when the lines get long so you aren't waiting forever to check out... They have many unique foods that I have not seen elsewhere as well... all in all it's a great place to get all our groceries and it's much faster than...

Edit: This store has since added self checkout lanes. In other instances I am a fan of self checkout lines but it does not work for ALDI at all. They only have 1 regular checkout line open, which is always overloaded because the self checkouts 1) Do not accept cash payments. 2) Are the kiosk style that do not have adequate room for people that do significant grocery shopping and have many items in their cart. The employees that do the shopping for their 'curbside pickup' have no regard for customers. My once glowing 5 star review has been...
