Hick's Outdoors — Local services in Vienna Charter Township

My wife is wanting to get into bow hunting. Bear had a really good deal on the Karnage bow on their website so she grabbed one. It's a good entry level bow, nothing crazy. We took it up to Hicks on a Saturday morning looking to get the bow adjusted for her. My dad & I have been going to Hicks for years but it had been awhile and I don't know anyone that works there now. She had never shot a bow much less pulled back a bow so I was a bit tentative and worried about her first experience. I believe the workers name was Dom. Younger fella. He was very good. He acknowledged her skill level really well & even suggested putting a kisser on her string to help with her anchor point. He had her shoot a few times to adjust her peep sight and he was very patient and informative. Got her draw length adjusted and put the weight way down so she can practice without any strain or fatigue. She needed arrows and Dom picked some out for her and set them up for us. He helped us with what type/size release would be good for her. I had a few other questions and he answered them for me. Called ahead because I live farther away. Guy claimed they had it in stock. I get there and of course its not there. That's not the upsetting part. I stood there waiting (they were NOT busy) and watched 3 men. One with a customer, and 2 without. I patiently waited to be acknowledged. They walked away in the back. The one with the customer over heard my 7 year old and I as I told him we needed to be patient. The man said, "I'm tied up, but do you have a question?" That's when I told him I had called. The other 2 in the back came back out and the already busy guy asked for their help. Then I was told they don't do holds. That's completely fine. But you mean to tell me, you sold out the last one in 20 minutes of me calling and replaced the display?! Come on. This is my 3rd experience there by myself without my husband. I can tell you, when he's there, customer service is 100 times better then when I go by myself. I will not support poor customer service and will not be going back again. I will say the 1 star I had to give goes to the woman behind the counter that went to check in the back for me and for the guy that actually...

I cant begin to say how happy i was, i initially went in here to learn more about the different archery bows they have available, and a kind gentleman who works there talked me through what the different bows are and what i should look for when buying, though we didnt find one for my budget he told me to look online and gave instructions as to what to look for. Luckily enough i found the perfect set, then i called them back right up and asked them if they would help me set the bow up, they did not hesitate one bit to get me the help i needed. I went there the next day and their archery department guy helped me and talked me through everything. It took him like 30 mins to set up my bow to its draw lengths and pull weight and even gave me some tips and pointers as to how to use and take care of it. And it didn't cost me an arm and a leg, such great service for such a reasonable price i left there happier than i came in.
