I've been going to this Aldi since the grand opening day. I am glad that an Aldi came to VA Beach after hearing so many good reviews about prices from coupon blogs that I follow. I sometimes go to different Aldi's in VB. I agree that Aldi's has the best prices and it's my number 1 grocery store that meets most items on my list.
However, you have to be careful on the prices that ring up at the register and the sign on the shelf. Many times, especially in the morning, the prices were incorrect and didn't match the signs or the flyer. Sometimes, the cashier punches the wrong number for my produce. Sometimes, the cashier charges me the wrong quantity. Sometimes, the cashier doesn't give me the discount if there is a reduced price because it's close to expiration date. Because of all these reasons, I watch as the cashier scans items and correct her/him at the end if I catch something wrong. I always check my receipt to ensure I was charged correctly. If I am not, I have to go back to the cashier and ask for a refund. This takes an extra step and time for me because of their error.
Many times, the cashier will ask me to insert my credit card while she is scanning items. I don't like inserting my credit card because of the many mistakes that have happened in the past and I would like to know what my total is before I pay and correct mistakes before I pay. Plus, inserting my card makes me feel rushed and like a number, like I'm being pushed through the system so that Aldi can process as many customers as fast as possible. Some cashiers at Aldi's have great customer service, and some can use improvement. Inserting my credit card is probably only going to save a few seconds. I don't like to feel pressured into doing something I don't want to do or make me feel bad because there's a long line behind me. I have a total different customer service experience at Trader Joes, great customer service there all the time. No other grocery store asks me to insert my credit card before I know my total. Sometimes, there is a long line because they have one register open. And they'll open another register. I wait patiently and the cashiers are fast so I'm not waiting in line for a long time. When I get to my turn, good customer service would be appreciated.
I know the cashiers work hard and I appreciate their hard work. Just giving an honest review for improvements. Thank you so much and Aldi will still be my number one...
Read moreI lost my debit card in Aldis and realised it once I had been checked out. The cashier held my order while I checked the entire store for my card. I was unable to find it so started to leave the store to call my bank and let them know. I was extremely worried because last year my account had been hacked and they took $1100.00 from me. I received it back from my bank, but it took awhile. As I was leaving I saw a manager in the aisle so I walked over to ask her if she could take my name and number so if it gots turned in she could call me. As soon as I told her that I lost my card in her store she immediately said "what is your name so I told her. She them said that she needed to see my ID that someone had turned in a bank card. I had been in her store for about 45 minutes shopping, I know I lost my card on the way in because I had to take a quarter out of my pocket where I keep my card, when I first got there to get a cart. Then looked for about 15 minutes for my card throughout the store. I was panicked when I couldn't find it. Why didn't she tell the cashiers that someone had turned in a bank card just incase someone that was checking out mentioned that they lost their card. Their were only 2 cashiers, so it wouldn't have been too much effort on her part to do that. Also, I passed her at least twice as I was scouring the store for my card. She didn't even notice that I was wandering around looking at the floor or if she did she really didn't care. It would have taken me at least 2 weeks minimum to get a new card and the process is not fun or easy. She could have taken one or 2 minutes out of her day to at the very least try to get my card back to me. That is horrible customer service. I left $94.00 worth of groceries behind because I was so irritated by her nonchalant attitude towards...
Read moreI just recently had an experience here that was handled atrociously, but shockingly only by the store manager! An angry woman came into the store and began yelling at select customers, one of them being me, for no reason at all. I did not speak back, but to only ask her to step away from me, as I felt threatened and had done nothing that would warrant this behavior. The store manager not only made the situation worse by coming out (very delayed, I should add. She left her other employees to handled it until it became violent, which is horrific management) and assuming the situation, with our knowing. She began to yell at me to be quiet and stop talking, although I was not the one that was meant for. She had to be told by her other employees it was not me, to which then, she addressed the other woman. I had to ASK TWICE for her to call the police and the last time I asked, she snapped and said “I am already oh my god”. It’s very clear the store manager here is young, immature and inexperienced in her position, which unfortunately caused an increase in violence at your store due to her inability to handle it properly. She never once apologized to me for her behavior, and it is because of that that I’m asking for another member of higher management to reach out to me, so this may be addressed in a much more professional manner. Im very disappointed in your store managers ability to handle, even minor, stress and I certainly need an explanation as to why the police were not called and why the main focus was not protecting customers. I look forward to hearing from someone. I believe her name is Christine, but I will be getting the correct information and providing it to the police...
