Gimme the Sweets Bakery & Cake Supply Shop — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

I try to support small owned minority businesses but this is a hard one. I’ve been here about four times and the guy that is there is usually really friendly. However, the lady has been so short and nasty on two different occasions. Today was the last time for that. First time I came in about 430. I told her I had to speed to get here before an appointment to try something I saw posted online. Told her I get off at 5 and they close at 5. She said well come on Saturdays. Not personable or friendly at all plus the selection diminishes later in the day so barely anything including what I wanted was there. I purchased something anyway just to support. Came back after seeing something I was interested in trying posted online. It was gone of course. Again I bought something anyway. So I asked her if she would have more of what I originally came for. She immediately cut me off and said “No!” I looked puzzled so she said “I don’t know baby. I post what I have. When I have it, it’s posted.” I thought she misunderstood me so I said “No I’m asking if it’s something that’s here to stay or just was a one time thing.” Shaking her head no she said “you never know. I post what I have.” She said it as if I’m online all day to see what she’s posting. I expected her to say I will but I’m not sure when then I would probably look for it on a Saturday or some time when I could get there earlier. It’s just disheartening and disappointing when you really go out of your way to support your people for them to be so cold and bland to you. Especially when I’ve personally SEEN her be kind to someone who came in before me and after me. You’re items are great and I like them because you try different things. However, I can not continue to spend my money or send my friends to support someone who would potentially treat them like crap. I wish you much success and hope this review helps in the future.

Update to your comment: I may have been the only customer in the bakery but there was a customer leaving (a man who unfortunately did NOT look like me) when I came in who got great service. Yes I did come late and I’m aware of that. I was disappointed when I come across town for something and it’s not there no matter what time or what it is. That’s only human. I can tell you that I’m never rude so don’t act like I got that way because you were out of the product because I understand business. However, it’s the customer service that I continue to bring up in which you do not deny. You have been nothing but dry and very unimpressive since the first time I have been there. I’m glad you recorded because on the most recent time in June and not October, you will see how your demeanor is and instead of calling my observations outright lies, you could’ve just apologized that I was made to feel that way and tell me to have a good day because you know that those interactions were not the best. (Life lesson - If that wasn’t your intention, that’s one thing but you cannot dismiss someone’s feelings no matter who your intentions.) Okay.. so I’m gonna be honest. I was feeling kind of blah driving down the road and I said to myself, what is wrong with me? I need some guidance. So I was like lemme stop by this psychic shop I keep seeing cause I’m impulsive like that. I pull up, sign says open and I’m like perfect! Go to open the door.. it’s locked… bummed I start walking back to my car feeling defeated thennnn I see “Gimme the sweets bakery” sign and I thought, let’s just see what they have. I walked in. There wasn’t a ton of ready to go stuff on display but I’m indecisive so that was perfect for me lol. I grabbed the Oreo cheesecake and 2 chocolate chip cookies. The guy helping me was very kind and helpful. I paid and started eating the cookies before my car even left the lot… you guys… their sweets are soooo good! It was exactly what I needed. Sometimes when you think you need one thing the Lord shows you what you really need and today, it was not a psychic reading hahaha it was chocolate chip cookies and an Oreo cheesecake! Now I feel much happier and turns out I didn’t need guidance, just some sweets before my cycle comes on haha praise God and Gimme the sweets...

The cupcake did not taste sweet. I think this is box cake . These cupcakes were not homemade . if anything all she did was put extra egg yolks in them to make them taste moist and swap out the water on the box for milk.... just because a cupcake is moist that does not mean the cupcake is homemade. Yeah the cupcakes were pretty .but I think they put more time into the aesthetic of the cupcake versus the actual Taste of the cupcake. The crunch on top of the cupcake was not even thick . usually when people put crunch on top of a cupcake they usually make it a little thicker not a little drizzle. The icing on the Cupcake didn't taste like buttercream... buttercream is usually sweeter. This icing that was used taste like whip icing . My overall review of the place was I think it was a waste of money to be honest. But I really wanted to try because I heard great things about it but I could have kept my money...
