I would give a negative star rating if I could. This salon literally stole my money. I paid over $200 for a deposit for a cut and color, which was supposed to be 50% of the total cost. Over the next few days, I got calls from the salon increasing the amount multiple times, going as high as over $600. I was cutting my hair down to less than an inch before coloring it, so paying over $600 was absolutely ridiculous. I even went in and paid to have a consultation, so they could see just how short I was going before quoting me another outrageous amount. It did not help. This was confusing to me, because I had been to the Salon before and did not have this issue.
Finally, I spoke to the owner and told her that I had agreed to the deposit that I paid based on the original price that I was quoted; however, I was uncomfortable paying over $600 for the style and should not be forced to lose my deposit because the salon significantly changed the price. She agreed to refund my deposit, but made sure to repeat to me (over and over again) that they do not normally return deposits (as if she was doing me a favor) and that it would take them some time for them to figure out how to return my payment to me. My appointment was on October 4, 2024. Today is February 24, 2025. Still no refund.
In December 2024, one of their staff randomly reached out to me to ask me if I had disputed the charge. When I said that I had not because I was waiting (very patiently) on the refund that I was promised, she told me not to worry, they were going to process it “now” and I should have it in seven business days. That was over two months ago. No refund and no additional communication, even though I have emailed them.
Today, I disputed the charge with AMEX, and even though I have evidence in writing and in a recorded voice message from the owner, confirming that she was going to return my deposit, I am no longer able to dispute the charge because it has been over 60 days. I believe this Salon knew that I could not dispute the charge beyond 60 days, and that is why they called me in December to ask if I had done so yet. When I said no, they knew they were in the clear. They had absolutely no intention on returning my money to me, and have yet to provide me any service, nor would I want them to touch a hair on my head again at this point.
All of this to say that this salon and its management is shady and dishonest. I rarely ever take the time to write these types of reviews, but stealing from clients is absolutely not OK. It’s honestly not even about the money, it’s about the principal. I highly suggest that you find...
Read moreI initially wanted to go to the salon because I had dreams of growing my hair and needed to start off somewhere and felt like this was the perfect place. I immediately regretted my decision going. My appointment was at 4 PM. No one even acknowledged me until 15 minutes past that and I wasn’t even put into a chair until 4:30. The stylist that was doing my hair was sitting there most of the time I was there before she started my hair. No one bothered to ask me who was doing my hair or what I was getting done I was told to have a seat in the waiting area. When the stylist finally came to do my hair it was very clear she was new, and did not know what she was doing. When she went to blow dry my hair, I felt as though she was trying to pull out clumps she was not gentle and paid my hair Absolutely no care. I got the scalp exfoliation treatment and I saw on the website I was supposed to come back five days later to get a deep conditioning treatment, but the stylist did everything in one day even though she wasn’t supposed to she asked someone else what was supposed to be a part of the scalp exfoliation they informed her I wasn’t supposed to get deep condition until five days later she failed to mention to them that she had already given me a deep conditioning treatment. I asked for two braids. I did not expect them to be perfect, but she absolutely took no time to braid or part my hair, and I came out looking worse than I went in. I will never return to the salon because it seems like no one cares about the customers and I feel like my money will be spent better elsewhere if you care about your time, hair, and money , do not go here. Do not let the four star rating fool you. Take time to read through the comments and see what people disliked about this salon...
Read moreWay too much to type. Thanks goodness I had the wherewithal to maintain records of communications related to the service I asked and paid for versus what they decided to do without telling me. Bottom line: paid for interlocked microloc extensions. Not what I received. The lack of accountability is astounding.
Update to include more detailed feedback about this salon’s wrongful conduct:
On or about January 7, 2024, I had a consultation for my hair. During that I specifically requested interlocked microloc extensions. The owner, Jill Crudup confirmed this request, I made a deposit and paid the balance on the day of my appointment. On the day of the appointment, my stylist confirmed that she was told that I was to receive interlocked microloc extensions. This requires an expertise that is separate and apart from just braiding and twisting hair, hence the cost I paid. She also said “I’ve never done this before.” However, within two weeks I suspected and confirmed that I did not receive what I paid for. The owner admitted the same during a telephone conversation on January 31, 2025 and the attached pictures confirm this fact. Touting a “no refund policy” when you have not provided the service that was agreed upon and paid for is astounding. A shame.
Editing to add: while communicating my concerns to the owner about the stylist, this is what she had to say about the stylist: “If you speak in an intelligent way with her, she does not know how to converse. She talks at a surface level.” Toxicity veiled as “community” all around. A...
