I love my Fields on Lake Michigan Drive in Walker. The staff are knowledge based, wonderful. I am an online homemade craft seller with a marketplace on Etsy, Ebay and instagram. Pandemic comes out from left field and I'm low on supplies. CALL US ... I'm deaf. Didn't stop me as I emailed two members of the Fieods team. Karen and Ursula. WE went back and forth. Suggestions on their side. The first round, these two ladies had to figure out what I really wanted on 3 emails. Shipped.
Then round two .. more stuff was brought to me!! I really needed some felt. 6 squares. But alot more was delivered. The one thing about customer service, I was low on faux leather buttons. One packet came with the door to door service during COVD19. I had none to finish an order from Etsy. You might not like that type of help, but my order was shipped out the next day. I got what I call "love notes" from Karen and Ursula sending me samples for decision making on materials. The last order shipped via priority mail and received the next day! Yes, I paid for my shipping and it was well worth it. And yes, Karen "hunted" 6 more faux leather buttons for me that were included in the last shipment.
I am deaf. I have had 5 mini strokes. Some days I can barely walk. Karen met me down at the bottom of my care facility after work to deliver my much needed supplies. Rare. Very Rare.
Here's the thing, if I had too many buttons, not enough elastic, Fields would work with me. But, it doesnt happen.
How much do I trust them? They have my card on file to charge due to my deafness. Why?? Would you put your financial online via email?
I trust them. They care. Best fabric. Cost wise... you pay for what you get. Unique quality designer fabric. Yarn, 50% off. Beats Joanne's, Michael's and Hobby lobby.
Even online, I can feel they care.
Give them a try!!
P.S. I saw some fabric from front door of store. Described the best I could remember and asked for that...
Read moreI purchased six-and-a-half yards of home decor fabric here at a great price on clearance, and I was very happy. Unfortunately, when I got home I realized that I had only received a couple inches over six yards (the tally sheet showed 6.5 yards). I was making three curtains and needed every inch to cut into three pieces. With the short cut, I could only make two of the curtains. I returned to the store, where they would only agree to "split" the cost of purchasing another piece for the third curtain (and the returned the price of the half yard I was shorted). I could have returned the whole purchase, but I really wanted the fabric! They should have simply given the third piece to me since their mistake made its purchase necessary. They were also less than friendly about my asking for the free piece when, again, their mistake was the only cause of the issue. I won't go back to this...
Read moreSevere lack of customer service. I called ahead to ask if there was a fabric type I was after and was told yes. When I arrived, I didn’t see signage for the fabric and asked for directions once the people behind the counter had a chance to finish their conversation. One of the two did not appear happy to be bothered.
The response for help was a point in the direction of the fabric, but no offer to assist even though I mentioned this was my first project.
They had fabrics, some that I was interested in, but the lack of service was beyond me. Granted, I wasn’t going to drop $500 or something, but I was looking to cover a chair and all in would have easily been $100-200.
Regardless of spend, help customers and they will return. Don’t help them, and they will go online if other stores are not nearby. I’ll be going online and avoiding this store in the future...
