I got a lot of love for Meijers. I used to go there as a kid and I remember the way that it was. When I was four, I remember, you could smoke in there, they had ashtrays at all the ends of the aisles. And they had coupons in the store! They usually put the corresponding coupon right next to the product on the shelf! Those days were awesome! And they had ice cream and you could ride the Meijers pony machine for a penny! The place is still amazing today! They have Mperks, and sometimes it's really nice to find out you have a $5 discount, or even a $2 discount on the total in your cart. I can go in and get a haircut at great clips in store, and they do a nice job for a good price, I like growing it out after I get a cut from them, it always grows out right. And I bring my empty pop cans there. The limit is $25 on pop cans. I see too many people trying to get rich off of it with the amount of cans they have, but they'll really only get a max of $25, they won't get more. And when Meijers finds out you're scamming their system, they can ban you completely. I see less of that all the time. Meijers is a great place if you're just picking up a few things you usually get there. You can spend hours trying to find stuff though, getting help from staff was a great tool I haven't seen much of from the store lately. But when I bought a TV there a few years back, the electronics guy during when I was getting stimulus checks was a whiz. I told him I only had $300 to spend on a 4k TV. He goes in back to check and pulls out an element 4k TV. He escorted me with it on a dolly and even asked if I needed help getting it in my car. I've since sold that TV to my sister. She doesn't have it anymore, but I made good money on it, pretty much what I paid plus a few bonuses from her. I currently have a Vizio. Vizio's have great color range. Most don't do 120fps, but that's okay. 60fps on a videogame is a great feature to have, especially when most older games the old standard was 30fps. 60 is a definite upgrade, and just looks so cool. The technology has come leaps and bounds ahead of where we were in the 80's. It blows it clear out of the water how great even cable television can look during sequences on these. Very snappy. And Meijers sells Vizio's at a...
Read moreLet me first start off my saying I receive text refills front Meijer so that my prescription is ready when I arrive. That was not the case with Meijer on Alpine. So today I had some grocery shopping to do and needed to fill a prescription I had previously tried to do the week prior with no luck. So today I go to the pharmacy first before I begun my shopping since I knew I'd had to wait (because you always have a wait at the pharmacy). First thing the African American gal at the register helped the 1 person infront of me and then when it was my turn she walked away for a good 5 minutes before returning asking if she could help me. I tell her my name and my prescription is not ready (prior a week earlier there was already another problem with Meijer merging my maiden name with my married last name so I could not fill my prescription but was promised it'd be ready by this week). So I return and they say it needs to filled (which is annoying cause they gal the week before had already "gotten it ready") and tells me to give it 15 minutes. I had already planned to grocery shop regardless so i returned 45 minutes to get my prescription. Nope! They filled the wrong medicine and it would be another minute and they'd call me right back up. 10 minutes later I can see the line beginning to build. So I give it a few minutes later before I was going to get back in line since they obviously haven't called me back up. A mere 20 minutes later from when they originally told me another minute, they called me up to tell me they don't have my medicine there and they close at 6 so I'll either have to hurry to another location or wait till tomorrow. So, I the customer, have already waiting beyond the originally 15 minutes it would take to fill my prescription, to find out that they not only messed up and almost gave me the wrong prescription to digest (and possibly cause harm) to tell me that I have to wait another day to start my medication because they don't have my prescription (and to there knowlegde may cause me more harm by not starting my medicine today). Just very upset that Meijer representatives don't care enough about my wellbeing to fulfill my needs as their customer. They don't care how much of my time I wasted waiting for them to...
Read moreThis has become the worst Meijer in the greater Grand Rapids area. Frankly if a negative star rating was possible they would get one. Because they don't even deserve a 0.
I will absolutely no longer buy any Frozen food here. They will bring it out and throw it on the floor where it has to be stocked. And it will sit there for over an hour. I wondered why when I bought a frozen meal in a bowl it looked like everything had run to one side of the bowl. Now having witnessed their stocking methods I understand.
Always check the dates on anything in their supposed "Fresh" department. This includes the Deli, Produce, Bakery and Meats. Numerous times I have had to give items to employees that were out of date and/or let them know there were more on the shelf. I actually watched a meat person one time after informing them. They thanked me and said they would remove the rest right away. They returned to the back and didn't come back out even though I waited several minutes. Not only that as I passed by around 30m as I was heading to check out I looked and the item's were still on the shelf. I guess this Meijer figures it's cheaper to pay out a lawsuit than perform quality checks.
If you buy anything ready to eat or to heat up in their cafe. Good luck getting any Napkins or plastic wear to eat with. As either they stopped ordering them or their staff is just not interested in stocking it. And be prepared to wash the tables yourself as literally no staff member EVER does. They don't even clean the counter with the condiments.
Also don't EVER buy a cup here. 95% of the time if you do the Icee and Soda machines are either broken or have not had their syrup restocked.
Honestly if it wasn't a 20-30m extra drive from my home to get to a decent Meijer I wouldn't ever shop here at all. But when I do want frozen or meat's I now choose Aldi's. Saving a couple bucks when something is on sale isn't worth possibly dying from...
