Iām extremely disappointed with the services (or lack thereof) provided by SCOW (Spanish Community of Wallingford). This organization claims to support the Spanish-speaking community, yet they deny services to individuals simply because they believe theyāve ābeen here long enough to learn English.ā That is not only unhelpful but also dismissive of the challenges many people face when navigating important documents and forms in a second language.
Additionally, SCOW charges outrageous feesāhundreds of dollarsāfor simple document translations, despite receiving significant corporate and company donations. One would expect an organization like this to prioritize helping the community over profiting from essential services. To make matters worse, they refuse to assist with filling out online forms, which is often a critical need for those seeking help.
Perhaps the most troubling issue is the attitude of the workers. People seeking translation assistance have been told to have their children or family members do it instead, rather than receiving the support SCOW is supposedly there to provide.
