Go Bananas — Local services in Wareham

Been a long time customer. I showed up to bananas the day after they opened their doors during phase two of the COVID reopening.

I was anxious to get a new fishing kayak since my boat of 12 years was on its way out.

After looking around at inventory for a few minutes. A very nice woman asked if I needed help. A few minutes after, a spirited young guy came over to help. This legend’s name was Austin.

Austin fielded my questions about Bonafide and Wilderness Systems boats like a true kayak connoisseur. Even after I spent hours researching boats on YouTube university, he still threw some info at me that I didn’t know.

He led me into the majestic kayak warehouse out back, the last great bastion of plastic floating vessels. He graciously took a few down to show me the features. Let me try out seating configurations, lift the boat to test weight, etc.

More of a, "Outdoor store featuring Army Navy Surplus Items" type place. A wide selection of kayaks, etc. The military gear is presented in an easily browse-able way. You don't need to squeeze down tight aisles to look at anything like a few other stores. The atmosphere is plain, the employees look a little tired and drab like they'd rather be doing something else. But, who really ever wants to be at work? If you ask them something, they'll immediately dive in and assist you with a friendly demeanor. The pricing is about moderate for most items; uniforms, 550 cord, gear, etc. Overall a decent place to stop...

What a great place to shop! went in not knowing what kind of work boots to buy for a gift, but this really nice lady Renee who is the manager was a wonderful help she really knows her stuff and was a wonderful help, she made my shopping experience a pleasure. She is very knowledgeable not just about the shoes and boots but about so much more, she really knows how to run this store. If ever you go shopping at Bananas make sure you ask for Renee she is the best! This place is lucky to have such a great employee working for them! I am a huge gone...
